Sony  Mini Hi-Fi CD Shelf System

I bought this stereo with my own money. The only music that i listen to is rap and even when i turn it up as loud as it can go it still sounds great no distortion. I've had it for about 5 years and it still sounds like it did when I bought it. The first day I had it I thought it would totally meet my needs. Best bass I've ever heard. I can play my tv, ps2, and pretty much everything that I want. Totally worth the money. If your thinking about getting this stereo you better get it because you'll love it.

I have had no problems with this device. The power is tremendous, it shakes the house at half volume. I love using this for parties, and the system is small enough to be easily re-positioned. The iPod dock is very handy and can be controlled via the included remote. The equalizers are great; however, manual sound adjustments are not possible, you must select from a variety of well tuned preset options. I've had this system for almost four years already and I couldn't be happier with it. Overall, this is a great value for a system that will last a lifetime.

Received this dock as a gift for Christmas 2012. This is my first Hi-Fi System, so the only one I can compare it to is the 20+ year old RCA my dad has, which isn't the best, so I'll state my honest opinions about it. This dock is amazing in the aspect of power. The speakers are moderately sized but the power is fantastic. The subwoofer shakes the walls as well as any $200 one. The output is 540 Watts @ 1k Hertz though it consumes 250 Watts. Better output than the stereo in both of my parents' cars (which are good enough to do the job decently) and our Mitsubishi flat screen tv (very good sound quality)...Combined. I knew I couldn't turn it up full blast the first day, as other reviewers had, or the speakers would blow. I only occasionally turn it up beyond half power, which is already loud. There are a few cons with this also. The speaker wires are about 4-5 feet long, long enough to be spread apart from the main console, but it clearly wasn't designed to be. The connections on the console aren't standard ones used by the majority of speakers, so you can only use the speakers provided. If you have some experience in electronics, you can snip the wires and solder on standard speaker wire, though this would void the warranty. There isn't an AV input so it would be more difficult to hook it up to a TV, PlayStation, etc. The CD tray only holds one CD. And the iPod/iPhone dock seems flimsy, but I haven't had problems with it breaking or anything. Overall. The pros hugely outweigh the cons. Sony did a great job on making a dock that combines the best of both worlds, Power and Price. I would recommend this to anybody on a budget who wants something reliable and powerful. I would buy another Sony Hi-Fi System if I ever needed it. Thanks Sony!!!

I couldn't pass this up as it was on sale refurbished for $89.00 with free shipping! Good timing too as my 18 year old Denon shelf system had just died. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed as I thought it would be smaller than it is. Simple hook-up though and the remote is unobtrusive, small and easy to use. Build quality is on the cheap side but what can I expect for this small amount of money? The sound is good but to me not as "booming" as some have described it but it's still decent. I was a little worried about it's reliability as some have had bad luck but I've been using it now for several months and it has worked flawlessly. I paid over $500.00 for my Denon mini shelf system 18 years ago and it's hard to believe that in this day and age of ever increasing prices one can still find bargains like this. Thanks Sony!

Love the purchase that I made. Great Sound that comes from the ipod dock. Keeps going strong with no problems.

i have had my stereo over a year and it sounds as good as the day i bought its got great bass and the sound is really clear and it shakes my house overall really good product for the price

Bought this stereo at Best Buy. Used it for an hour on volume setting 25 the whole hour. Ended up having both speakers AND subwoofer blow on the *$200* system. Now I'm $200 out because I don't have the receipt for it anymore. This is my third Sony shelf system over a 10+ year period, and is most definitely my last. And by the way, when it did work the sound quality was mediocre. This is ridiculous, a well known company like Sony should make way better products. Bottom line, don't buy unless you want to waste your money and have this stereo sit there broken.

This system sounds fantastic! Got it for my husband for Christmas & he loves it! The remote is very handy {because he is always wanting to show everyone how loud it is}. The only thing I would change is it only has single CD player.

Got this for Christmas. Took me less than 20 minutes to set-up. The sub-woofer makes the bass shake the floors, and it can be turned off which is nice. Getting a shelf helps the sound quality! Remote works every time from less than twenty feet away. I would recommend it because it is cheap for a stereo that has so much power. Can move it around easy.

Received this for Christmas 2012 and I love it. Rich ful sound, deep basses, easy to use. I love listening to music and this system make it so easy to do no matter how I want to listen. Plays iPhone, iPod, AM/FM Radio, CD, can connect to TV and laptop. Just a great system.
