COMPACT Audiophile sound & outstanding EASE OF USE on the Cheap!
My wife & I purchaced the Panasonic SC-HC35 Tabletop stereo sytem as a mini stereo for our travel trailer as the ones in RV's leave MUCH to be desired. We are both musicians and I have done a lot of studio work, so hearing music through a subpar system is one of the few things in life i WON'T compromise on. We are BOTH VERY pleased with this system, both with it' s sound and features.. not to mention it's VERY SMALL footprint (only about 2 1/2" deep!).The full range speakers (made from bamboo.VERY green : ) produce a very realistic and satisfying sound, thanks in part to using 4 passive radiators..(FYI.Passive Radiiators are.basically speaker cones that aren't powered..the will resonate w/ the lowest bass notes to...help give more REALISTIC bass than a typical ported design.. which more often than not, sounds BOOMY and MUDDY... NOT the Panasonic!..If you are a fan of the OLD Boston Acoustics & Polk Audio speakers from the 80's thru early 90's, they used Passive Radiators in thier mid to higher end designs to help the speakers produce efficent bass YET to also have a controlled, TIGHT bass that you can FEEL!....I was VERY happy to see PANASONIC USE THIS TIME TESTED DESIGN.The stereo has both preset EQ's and adjustable bass/treble and the D bass (which again, adds bass but not to the point of sounding flabby.) The tuner is very easy to use w/ excellent reception on both AM & FM.The CD player w/ it's sliding door looks classy and is again easy to use.It played factory and mix(Cd-R) discs w/ ease... even as the volume went up, nary a skip : )The Ipod is very easy to put into it's slot, as the cd door slides the opposite way for you to put your ipod in behind the smoked plastic door.. VERY nice to both keep it out of prying hands.. both YOUNG & OLD!.The i pod menus are all easily accessible from the stereo's remote. There is also a 1/8" AUX input along w/ a USB input, so you can plug in another audio device such as a XM/Sirius radio or even the USB audio out from your TV/DVD player..!I am honestly amazed at all they have packed into this system AND the fact it works and is VERY logically laid out. My only negative findings, and it really isn't much in this day and age, is the fact the remote is THE SOLE control device for most of the features on the unit, so if you lose it, you WILL need to replace the remote to get access to the EQ, and many basic functions, but this is the norm for most electronics now... so as long as you don't lose/break the remote, you are good : )The remote itself is large enough to be able to see all the controls( it's NOT one of those credit card size ones like the Bose and others use..THANKS Panasonic!).Also, again, like w/ most decent audio devices, it will sound it's BEST if you allow it to be" broke in"... for a few days.. which means leave it on your favorite radio station OR hit shuffle on your Ipod and let it play at about half volume for 48-72hrs straight....I experimented as we bought a 2nd one of these for my wife at school and it DID make a difference. Now if you are listening to it all the time...it will just get better as you listen to it : ) This is a GREAT unit for a bedroom, kitchen, Den or for a student that LOVES music and doesn't want to compromise on sound nor on how much space it takes up.....Plus the fact it basically plays all the music source that are out there from radio to the ipod... VERY RARE TO FIND!The price is WELL worth it and I feel compares(and BESTS ) the Bose Wave system..plus it's about a 1/4 of the price.Highly Recommended!

Overall
Good Sound in a Small Package!

I own the SC-HC55, which is very similar in specifications. I was concerned that the sound of this unit would be poor quality, but it's really very good. The bass reverberates a bit in older recordings, but, in general, this is a good product. I recommend!

I would recommend this product to a friend.
