Sony Book Shelf Speakers are pretty good! March 31, 2011

I got these speakers for my "party room" to fill out the sound a bit. When
listening, they perform admirably at making the sound coming through them
objectionally perceivable by the human ear in a pleasant fashion. They are
visually more of a free standing speakers. I actually do not
even have them on a bookshelf, but rather on the floor. I hope this is okay. I didn't
see in the manual for any safety precautions about doing that. I knew that
eventually I'd have to buy some. I had a gift certificate
a relative gave me to Sears. It was very convenient to order
relatively big speakers online from an in-store kiosk and have them
shipped to my door.

Pros:
Good pricepoint [quality for price]Recently bought a pair of these for a stereo setup in my bedroom. These are about as large as you can get and still fit in the bookshelf category. Mine sit on the floor. I consider these speakers to be at an optimal price point for the quality and performance. I would put them at the low end of the good stuff... a great set of speakers for someone building an entry level stereo or home theatre system. Someone who wants nice clean sound, has a budget- but doesn't want one of the cheaper combo systems where thay package the dvd/amp/speakers all together in one package.
With the price these are at- you can afford to upgrade to the separate component setup. The nicer systems- where you replace components in your system when they break rather than replace the whole cheap system.
These have a decent full range coverage [down to 50Hz] and clean sound.
Spend a hundred on these speakers- another couple hundred on a decent amp and you can bypass the speakers that came built into your TV. You won't be able to enjoy movies at your friends or relatives houses' with their built in TV speakers once you've experienced the clean sound of a decent system.
