That's why THX, the industry leader in sound quality certification for movie theatres (you've probably seen the famous THX logo in movie theatres and DVDs), collaborated together with Monster Cable, to create connection standards specifically for home theatre.
The cables that come in the box don't meet Monster THX standards. Some of the connections you need don't even come in the box, including S-Video, Component Video, and Digital Audio for Surround Sound.

This cable is of excellent quality. Feels strong yet does not prevent flexibility. You find around that many cables have the words "24K Gold" plating written on it. That is good to know if you are buying a necklace or other articles of jewelry. The fact is that optical cables send signals through a stream of light; weather the contact is gold or not is irrelevant. In regard to this cable, the signal gets to my source amplifier with excellent quality. I presonally recomend this product and you can't beat the price. Shipping? Go to your local Sears, on a trip to your local mall while doing something else, and have an associate do a "Store to Web" transaction and you pay no shipping. Great item and Sears served me right. Give it a shot.
