I got this grill as an early Father's Day gift from my wife. We bought it at Sears and took advantage of the free assembly. So far I've used it twice. The first time I cooked some sirloin steaks, and the second I actually grilled some short ribs that were wrapped in foil. Both times I was satisfied with the results. Hopefully, my satisfaction will continue everytime I use this grill. Again, so far, so good.

The first time I cooked on this grill I could not get the grates clean, I used a brass brush and also soaked in soapy water. I called the store and they exchanged them, they said there could have been some chemical on them. I tried using cooking spray fro grilling the next time, still everything stuck to them. Also the grill has a huge problem with flare ups. I have never seen one this bad. I could not close the lid cooking hamburgs or it would start on fire. I am bringing it back on sunday.

a frequent barbecuerI echo a previous review in saying that the grill's finish is totally unsatisfactory. In this price range, a grill should provide years of service. Even though my grill is still under warranty, the provided warranty does not cover corrosion. So what I have is an expensive grill covered in rust (while still under warranty). Sears has declined several attempts to get this issue corrected. My patience has worn out with Sears and Kenmore's cheap material selection.
The "stainless steel" is covered in rust and the black finish is starting to show signs of serious wear even though this grill is kept under appropriately sized cover. The Sears rep told me that "cheap grades of stainless steel will rust". My response to the representative was to thank them for confirming that this grill was made with cheap materials.

I live in the San Francisco Bay area in California with mild weather during the winters.
The finish on this grill is extremely bad. The warranty on this grill does not cover finish or rusting. I have had this grill since 7/24/2009. The glossy black finish rapidly went from glossy to flat black on the left and right side trays in September 2009. Since September 2009, the rest of the grill minus the cover has turned from glossy black to flat black. It looks horrible and I am embarrassed to have friends over for a cook out because it looks like I dug this grill out of the dumpster. This grill is mostly covered with a grill cover purchased from Sears for this model. (The grill cover is not good either in my opinion. its design does not allow it to stay on the grill when a slight breeze is in the air. I have had to use clips at each corner to keep the cover on this grill. Yes, this grill cover was made for this grill).
I have contacted sears and they told me that the warranty does not cover poor workmanship on the finish for this grill.
Please see attached photos.
I would recommend looking at the Weber line.
into doing things myselfMany negative comments here regarding assembly. First off, if you have no mechanical aptitude, do not do this. The store will build this for free! I had absolutely no problems at all, and it is plenty sturdy, and lights and grills like a champ. Most of these reviews would be much higher had they let sears build it and bring it home assembled. I am very happy with this grill. More importantly....my wife loves it. A WIN WIN.
I got this on sale for $269. a comparable weber which I had considered would have been $549. Too much money to cook meat!
a busy person
Assembly instructions not as friendly as i'd have expected though but i was able to make it..I did not expect it to take so long to be put together; even at the end i was left with couple small pieces that i didn't see any instruction on how to use or "Where" to use! kept guessing but finally throe them away!
