First let me tell you that I love to cook. I am not showing off I am making something good to eat, period. Back in 1991 when my birthday was coming up I told my husband just exactly what I wanted for my BD gift. A Weber Genisis 3 Burner Gas Grill. Well he was out of time when the time came so my girlfrind and I went shopping for I wanted. I got me Genesis 1000 at the end of January 1992. We lived in the NW suburbs of Chicago at the time. I assembled it in the kitchen and then wrestled it out to the deck. In the Chicago winter I made my husband orange glaze cornish hens for his coming home dinner.
The grill moved to Phoenix with us in 1996 and got a tan for 10 years on the patio at our home there in far south Chandler. Then in 2006 it moved to our retirement home in NE Iowa. After close to 20 years of faithful service I had to replace the burners.
This grill bakes pies and breads in the heat of the summer months as well as baking my onions for my grilled steaks and wonder full roasts and chops. We are thinking of retiring our unit and replacing her but I can tell you that I will not even look at anything less than a Weber gas grill. My husband grumbled at the price back then but after 20 years of faithful service, when this one needed the burners replaced, he was looking for where to get another one.
What are you cooking that requires a temp. higher than 540F? Are you nutts? The grill is not meant to duplicate the fires of hell. It is to cook on for heaven sakes.
One of things that I like about the grill is the use of what they call "flavor bars". Your flar ups are really minimal.

No quality control performed on this model and you can easily detect (if you look closely) many flaws, structural and aesthetic. It feels like the grill is well built (good materials used) but the manufacturability is horrible. The lid's shroud is off, the inside of the lid has cracks, smoke comes out from the thermometer (from middle of the lid), temperature does not go higher than 540 F, color of flame is not uniform, all stainless steel surfaces scratch very easily, etc, etc.
Weber's website is full of information but is so unorganized (FAQs, RECIPES) and often presents contradicting information.
Unfortunately, I got caught up (or brainwashed) by others praising Weber - I agree on the old charcoal grills (simple and effective) but not the gas grills. If you are not a chef you can mess up things on this grill if you have to check for "doneness" of the cooking food inside - as soon as you open the lid, the temperature drops extremely fast and keeping strict time (as recommended by Weber) is a ticket to fail. So if it calls for 6-8 mins direct heat and you want to check after 5 mins how the meat looks like,
Why pay twice as much for a Weber? I just don't see the benefits.

This is a Great Product. I have only used it three time so far, but it has impressed me so far. yes it is a little more expensive than other grills, but it is worth every penny. Quality is obvious as soon as you open the lid, you can feel the difference over others. I have made Burgers and Pork Chops so far and they have drawn praise even from my 10 year old. Get this Grill, you will not be disappointed.

After 15 years of hard use, my old Weber Spirit just wasn't doing the job for me anymore, so I decided to upgrade to the Genesis. So far, I have been thrilled with my purchase. It was easy to assemble (and actually kind of fun). I like the solid construction and the fact that it is American made. The other grills I looked at now seem quite flimsy in comparision, and I expect this Weber to last at least as long as my old one. Another selling point for me is having shelves on both sides of the grill instead of having one side taken up by a separate burner for a pot or pan. The first time I used it I was anticipating having a much more intense heat to cook with than my old Weber could deliver. But, even then, I was quite surprised at at the temperature you can achieve (600+ degrees with all three burners on high). You really don't need a special searing unit with this baby. I quickly learned to scale back on the temperature and have been quite happy with how well it cooks. The only negative I can point to is the placement of the propane tank under the grill. I would have liked a slide out unit to make it easier to replace the propane tank. Some of the other grills I looked at offer that feature. Also, the turnoff for the tank is only a couple of inches below the drip pan. To avoid scorching my knuckles I have ot wear an oven mitt to turn off the tank after using the grill--or wait unitl it cools down. However, those minor complaints are not enough to diminish my satisfaction overall.

Bought this grill today. This grill is amazing. At first, I didn't want to spend this much on a grill, but after looking this one over, I decided to get it. I'm glad I did. It feels very sturdy when moving and opening. I like the included propane fill gauge. Wish sears offered more color options in store - Didn't want to pay shipping for a black one. Heats quickly. Assembly was very easy. First grill that I've put together where all of the holes lined up properly and didn't have to fight with it to get bolts and screws in. My only complaint/concern would be with the long term durability of the plastic wheels. For its price, they really should be metal. But all in all, am very happy.

Very sturdy construction. This will last a long time. No flare ups when cooking burgers, but you do have to clean out the grease drainage system on a regular basis. Heats up fast and cooks evenly. You will enjoy this grill. Plenty of space for indirect cooking and also height, if you want to do chickens or even a turkey. Grates are heavy duty and you can use both sides-- the underside can be used if you want something more like a griddle (fish, veggies, other things you don't want to stick). My only gripes about this grill are: Plastic wheels and knobs don't appear to be that sturdy Only heats up to around 620 max-- that's after close to 20 minutes. If you want to cook at very, very high temps. for searing steaks, you might want to look elsewhere-- but you will pay a lot. And, FWIW, the steaks taste plenty good when seared at 550 or 600.

I waited until i used this grill for the whole summer before giving a review. this is without a doubt the best grill ive owned to date. the quality is unsurpassed and the details and styling obviously come from a company who has done some serious r&d and know their way in this area.just the weight of the lid lets you know this isnt a big box store special.the way the burners are designed are perfect and ill no longer have to replace that cheap rusty burner ever again. i found that the food cooks very evenly no matter where you place it on the grate and the temps are accurate.the 15 year warranty doesnt hurt either.. one thing to note: youll never get a weber grill on sale because their prices are set so dont think you can get it cheaper......BUY IT you wont regret it

Weber Grill says it all, you buy top quality product when buying a Weber Grill, I've been through 2 Char-broils and they didn't last. My Brother has a Weber Grill for 6 years and with only the normal wear it works like new..So I say, you spend more for a better product but in the long run you will have the product for many years to come..

Can't wait to grill on this cooking machine! It has nice even heat and does not flare up like my past grills. Other people have cooked on it and no problems and easy to use. It is so solid anbuilt from good heavy materials with no cheapness here. The grill moves around easily and locks in place. Keeps an eye on your tank level which is oh so important. This should be the last grill I have to buy for many years to come! babler

The Weber is well built from quality materials and it is heavy. It was easy to assemble, even our children helped. Once together, it heats up very quickly, the controls are easy to ready and operate, and the starter is great. The grilling surfaces are also very high quality. The best part, by far- is the fact that it cooks evenly, from the front to the rear of the grill, and you can acurately control the temperature. I was able to cook chicken thighs successfully on a grill for the first time in a long time! No burning, but even controlled heat. Perfect. Love, love this new grill. It's more expensive than some others on the market, but this grill proves that you get what you pay for. With my last grill, I let price determine my choice, and the grill burned everything, it never cooked evenly and the burners died after only 4 years.
