Men love their power tools!
After taking up gardening after several years (20), I didn't remember how difficult it is to maintain a clean, weed free garden. The manual hoeing was very time consuming. Using a large tiller in a small garden wasn't a consideration. This little two cycle tiller lets me keep the weeds out of the rows without spending days with a hoe in my hands. I also noticed that the tilled (loose soil) absorbs the water when it rains or when I water. The ground is very hard because it has not been turned or supplemented by peat or mulch. This little tiller still handles this hard soil without beating me up. I would not hesitate to recommend this to friends. The price is reasonable a compares to that of a good weed eater. The plus is the fresh vegetables I will get from the garden!

Great little tiller

Worked great to set up a new garden bed - a few passes were neeed due to sod and packed earth but it had not problem. Cut through all the roots and what a time saver. Will also be good to keep the weeds at bay.

Horrible machine DO NOT PURCHASE

I purchased this tiller from Orchard Supply Hardware. I got it to start once but while using it and it just stopped and I could not get it to start again.  I returned it to Orchard Supply and it was sent out to the repair shop.  I received a call back saying it was a manufacturer defect and they gave me another one.  I took it home and after trying several times it started and I was able to use it and it did an ok job.  I pulled it out yesterday to use it but no matter how many times I tried to start this machine it would not start. I have almost pulled my arm out of its socket trying to start this tiller and my arm is very sore today because of it.  Now I have to once again return this machine to Orchard Supply. I own a Craftsman Lawnmower and it starts everytime on the first pull. I do not recommend this product there is definantely something wrong in the design or manufactoring of it.

Hard Starting.

Great tiller for small jobs like flower beds. I never have been a fan of two cycle engines. I don't like mixing the gas, and you always end up with at least half a gallon left over to dispose of because a year later when you use the tiller you don't want to use that old gas. You do have to crank and crank on the machine to get it started, but once it starts, it runs and idles fine and does a good job. Good machine, just eat your Wheaties before you try to start it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Important Caution on Fuel Use

With this type of 3-Cycle small engine, DO NOT use any gasoline with ethanol! Use only ethanol free gasoline/oil mixture or the pre-mixed "TRUFUEL" sold by Sears. I had to have my unit repaired after 1 hour's use. Fortunately the unit was repaired under warranty.

Craftman 2-cycle Mini tiller

For a small garden that needs occasional tilling to keep weeds down, it is excellent. It gets between plants easily, is light enough, yet has weight to do the work.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Mini-Tiller

For all of the people complaining about Sears, check the name on the product. It says Craftsman, not Sears. Sears doesn't make it, Craftsman does. You can buy Craftsman at KMart and ************, too. You can also buy online at Craftsman.com. Don't blame the middle man that carries the product. I got mine 2nd hand because the guy wanted a larger tiller. After my unit would not crank, I found that the carburetor had clogged up due to stale gas (thank you ethanol!!). I cleaned the carburetor and put in fresh gas. That's user error, not product error. This tiller works fine. I don't rate 5 stars, because nothing is perfect.

piece of junk

Bought a month ago. Took an hour to get it to start once.. couldn't get it to go again at that time. Took it out again a month later to try again, won't start at all. Can't find receipt.. probably now another piece of junk to hang on the wall until I throw it away. Craftsman used to stand for something.
