Craftsman  30'' Rear Engine Rider Bagger

The assembly process takes quite a bit of time: Step 1. When I took out the four self tap bolts, everything sprang out of position. Step 2. I needed a 4" C clamp to force the mounting bracket into position, and a center punch in one of the holes to hold everything in alignment while I tried to put the screws in. They didn't go in until I cleaned up the tapped holes in the mounting bracket with a 1/4-20 tap. Step 4. I had to run a 3/8-16 tap through the tapped hole before the attachment **** would go in. Steps 6 & 9. It's a struggle to get the chute tube into the the grass catcher hood. The design of my mower deck doesn't match that of the chute tube, so I had to remove the "two pins" from the chute tube and cut a slot in the chute tube to match my mower deck Once installed, it works fine, easy to empty, etc.

Functionally, it collects grass/leaves as advertised. The biggest issue I have is the fabric (rather than hard plastic) top cover blows dust everywhere, to the point that my backside is black with dirt and dust is in my eyes and nose. Poor design. As noted in other reviews, the triangular mounting plate covers the trailer hitch so that once the plate is bolted on, the trailer hitch is useless. Again, poor design. Swapping between bagger and no bagger is not as simple as it could be. There is no way to tell how full the bagger is getting, and if over filled, the debris falls on the ground when the cover is lifted to empty. Also, the cover does not open far enough to stay open when emptying bags, has bonked me on the head a few times. Three bushels sounds like a lot, but a larger capacity would mean more mowing and less stopping to empty bags. Having a bagger is better than not having a bagger, but this one needs to go back to the drawing board.

I ordered the rear bagger with the mower and was pleasantly surprised when Sears delivered mower and bagger completely assembled. After cutting a half-inch notch in the 2012 rear bagger chute to allow nudging it rearward to reliably contact the cutting deck safety cut-off switch on the 2013 mower, I was able to start the lawn mower and evaluate performance. Bagger chute removal was easy to fix the compatibility problem and re-assembly was a breeze. The two bins hold a lot of grass clippings, and emptying them into lawn bags is readily accomplished. Finger compatible wing nuts allow easy removal and easy install of the bagger and chute so that other mower attachments (mulcher or de-thatcher for example) should be readily installable.

This grass bagger works well, and is easy to unload when bags are full with grass.

Bought the bagger but the mower dosent work another waste of money.

Nice set-up and design. All grass clippings are contained in the two bins. Easy access and dumping and they don't get in your way. They will also get through the gates with no problem. Nice job!

The bagger is pretty good except for one major flaw: You cannot use the hitch unless you completely remove the bagger support bracket, which is a pain. The bagger and bagger frame removes easy enough (one thumb bolt), but the support bracket still covers the hitch........ So basically, it is pretty good as long as you never plan on using the hitch. Or just drill and mount the hitch farther aft, which is what I did.

This bagger fits nicely on the back of the 30" riding lawnmower and it conveniently has two bags to pick up more grass before emptying. I think it is a fine product, but the grass does kind of leak out of the top while the mower is moving. It is not a big deal and I find the bagger to be a big help in mowing the lawn. I would recommend it.

I like this bagger better than any I've used over the years, It was easy to assemble, appears to be well made and has a few thoughtful features that I really like. The bags have straps on the bottoms. Just pickup the bag, grab the strap and shake the clippings out. The bags hold exactly the same amount of clippings as one leaf bag that is approved by our city. The bagger attachment actually reduces the width of the mover so it more easily drives right into my basement. I selected the 30" mower because it was the largest that would fit through my 48" door. The price wasn't bad and the quality is there.
