The Craftsman 12 cu. ft. Dump Cart is sturdy, assembles quickly February 15, 2011
I needed a dump cart right away and this is the only model that any Sears within 30 miles stocked. I would have preferred a larger cart, but it turns out that I'm very happy with this one. Assembly took about an hour, solo, following the instructions - including waiting to tighten bolts until the instructions stated to do so. It's clear, when completed, that tightening bolts as you turn the manual pages would result in a cart that is not assembled "square". A second person would be handy to help align parts and flip the cart once the wheels are installed. The cart pulls easily with an ATV. It can "wag the dog" if you load it heavily; not so much of an issue if you pull it with a lawn or garden tractor. The dump mechanism is handy, as is the removable lift-out gate. The cart has been loaded with metal, bricks, and concrete blocks, and shows no damage after several weekends of work. I haven't had a flat, but that's nothing that some Slime couldn't take care of if need be. A few improvements would be nice: The cart comes without a bed liner. Not a problem if you're hauling fertilizer. It's definitely needed to prevent damaging the cart if you're hauling stone, metal, or trash. To make one, I just cut up the shipping box and covered the bed bottom and sides. That'll work for now. Some bolts on the front panel stick into the bed. That's okay - I'll cut the excess length off another day, but it would be better to just use shorter bolts for these locations. Lastly, the clip that holds the hitch pin in place catches on brush and gets pulled-out and lost nearly every trip into brush. A spring-loaded clip would be better, or just put a screw and nut through the hole in the pin. Overall, this has been a great cart for the value. I highly recommend it.

Good Cart May 02, 2011
The cart comes broken down in half and has probably over 100 parts to assemble. I'm not sure who put quick and easy assembly. It took 2 of us (after assembling many things) about 3 hours. Once assembled the cart is pretty sturdy. The tail gate however is very cheap and does not go on well. It bends outward and you have to try to squeeze it together to make it stay on.

The metal in the bed seems heavy enough to withstand years of regular use. Good idea to have grease fittings on the wheel hubs. The instructions were very easy to follow. Except for the axle and drawbar assembly could be heavier.

Stock tires not reliableI've had this cart for about 2 years now. It's made by Ohio Steel and they brand it with the Craftsman name. The cart itself is a tough little unit. The "tailgate" not so much. It's flimsy sheet metal and it never fits right in the grooves, especially if its bent. When I got it out of the box it was bent so I called and complained and they sent me another one. If I knew then what I do now, I wouldn't have worried about it. No matter what you do it will get bent. The tires are poor and don't have tubes. When piling on dirt or rocks you MUST keep an eye on the tires and ensure they're inflated properly. This thing will hold much more than the tires can stand. I've had to take them to a local garage many times when I've overloaded it to get the tires popped back on the rim. Overall though it's a handy little cart that I'm glad we bought. I wish there were better tires available though!

Price considered, this is an outstanding value for the features offered and I would not hesitate to recommend this Craftsman product for light to medium duty yard needs.

axles and braces no goodMy 13 year old son was able to assemble this cart in about 45 min. The instructions were simple with pictures. I have had this cart all summer and have been pleased with the dump feature. I mostly use it to haul straw and manure. However, recently I loaded it half full with gravel and dirt to fill in a low spot in my driveway. The manufacure lists the maximum load capacity at 1000 #'s. I was well under this. The entire wheel housing bent at the first small bump in the road. It will cost about $60 to replace the bent part. If you are looking for a light duty cart, this is a great one for the price. If you are planning on hauling heavier items on an uneven surface this is not the best buy.
