Useful addition to tractor
This bar is built sturdy and provides protection against damage from low-impact front collisions. I also like the way it looks on the tractor. These are my assembly observations. First, for Craftsman model YT 4000 yard tractor, you do not need to remove the hood. Just raise it. You will need to remove the browning plate as described in the manual. Attach by placing washer on carriage bolt and inserting bolt through tractor frame from under neath tractor (bolt will point to outside) using first front bottom hole on tractor frame and 3rd hole on front of bumper bracket. Secure with whiznut. Do this for both sides and tighten. Now is tricky part. Place washer on bolt and insert into curved rear portion of bumper bracket and into top hole in rear of tractor frame with bolt pointing towards inside. If you follow manual and use same procedure as first bolts, you may have some difficulty holding bolt in place while you tighten whiznut do to limited work space. I found there is sufficient room on inside to use wrench (socket or standard) to tighten whiznut but very difficult to use pliers to hold bolt in that confined space. In other words, when you finish, you will have lower whiznut on outside of tractor frame and higher whiznut on inside of frame. This may not be an issue if you have small hands. Please note that in normal operation, the bumper becomes hot to the touch due to its proximity to engine components. Two of the end plugs became deformed and fell out, but this was no big deal for me. Over all, nice addition but assembly instructions leave quite a bit to be desired.

Had I not gotten it on sale ($23), I probably would have returned it. It sits too low to be of use. Raising it (it is adjustable) would prevent the hood from lifting all the way. Looks good, but could have done without it.

Looks Good- But NOT for the YT 4000
Bumper looks good but is not a easy fit for my new YT4000 Tractor (a Sears ********). It was listed as fitting this model, but it took almost two hours for two people to reach the areas where you need to put bolts in and washers and get it so that it was level. The bolts slip through the back end of the bumper slots and you need washers to hold them. This looks really cheap and Sears could at least make sure the bolts, washers and screws were black so they are hidden. The instructions say to bolt in three places, but we were only able to match two holes on each side up with the frame. I did not take the guards off since they were held with sheet metal screws and did not want to take a chance that they would stay in place after removing them. There is little space to maneuver while working and honestly a person with average size hands does not have enough room to work. I am not sure I would put "Craftsman" on this product.

Riding Lawnmower front bumper
I have a 2011 Husqvarna yth22v42. I talked to Sears on-line and asked if there was a cheaper bumper than the 90.00 husqvarna and they recommened this one. Fits perfect and looks good at 1/2 the price.

Strong, protective and looks good
The Craftsman Dual Bar bumper is stylish, simple to install and tough because of the welded 1-piece design. Heavy gauge steel is used for the brackets and tubes while the black finish is easy to maintain. The bumper kit is designed for either single or dual suspension brackets so one may have some bolts left over.
