In the Fall of 2011 I went shopping for a snowblower for my Husky LTH18538 lawn tractor. I went to my local Hometown Sears store to view a floor display and found that none were out on the floor. The manager advised he had one in stock and that was in a seal carton in the back. Manager did not want to open the carton to view it so I took the 45 mile ride to a REAL Sears store to view the blower on display there. I subsequently purchased it along with the wheel weights and chains. *****
Prior to installation I took the time to sort out all the parts. This was a great time saver during assembly since there are parts included for various models that I wouldn't be using. Quite impressed with that fact. (Make a point of saving the extras just in case you ever wish to re-sell the blower) I assembled and installed the blower over the course of two afternoons. Estimated time was between 8 and 10 hours. I found the instructions were well documented and the project was easy for anyone mechanically inclined with the proper tools. Mounting the unit to the tractor is two man job, but one person can get it done with a little muscle and some maneuvering of the unit. I did touch up the paint where it was worn from shipping and from scratches during my assembly. *****
I waited just about all winter to get a good snow fall in which to use the blower. In my area of Wisconsin, it was getting an unusually light season for snow. What snow came was in the 1 to 3 inch catagory and hardly worth blowing. Finally, on February 29th we got 7 to 9 inches of the heavy wet stuff. As a proud poppa I got on my tractor and engaged the blower. For the first 3 feet I blew snow 30 feet. Then I hit the hard stuff and that was it. The blower stopped and the belt flew off. Re-installed belt, same thing happened when I hit the drift. Re-installed belt and this time it flew off when I engaged the blower. I then parked the unit and inspected it for the problem. I found that 3 of the 4 studs that secure the Idler Bracket (part #24281) had sheered off. Either the bolt studs were stressed due to being over tightened at the factory or they were of poor quality. I contemplated calling Sears for warranty service, but figured they would just replace they with similiar questionable studs. I wound up drilling out the studs and replacing them myself with machine harden bolts. *****
Finally re-assembled, I got on my machine and went back to the task at hand. During the repair it had started raining and the snow was even more wet and dense. Due to the wet heavy snow I had to go at a slow speed, but the blower performed well. I was shooting snow and water 20 feet without the unit ever plugging up. Impressive. Overall, the blower reduced my snow removal time by 2/3's and it will be interesting to see how it performs with a normal snow fall. ******
Other than the incident with the sheered studs, the unit appears solid and of good construction. Time will tell how well the unit holds up with continued usage.

bought this blower 2 years ago and have not had to use it a lot but has worked great thus far. Have had some problems with belt slipping off and breaking but really moves snow. I have been very impressed so far. Just cleaned driveway this week with some 4 foot drifts and with some time and patience was able to get through it. Other people in area telling me thier blowers did not work well.

I bought theis attatchment this summer and assembled it this fall getting ready for winter. Assembly took about 4hrs. In Maine we have had approx 5 snow storms and used it only twice for complete storms. First storm didn't start choke not adjusted properly from factory. The next next 2 storms worked fine. when blzzard arrived the auger bolts sheared off housing . Replaced auger housing then belt kept falling off. Plus broke shear pins and had to drill them out. I am thinking of selling it and buying something else. I have a call into a Sears repair tech.

If you're into having the auger belt fall off each time you try and throw snow, this snowblower is for you. Mine worked well for one winter and now the auger belt will not stay on. I replaced the belt with a new Sears belt ($100) and the problem continues. Researching the issue has proven even more frustrating, as many, many people are having the same issue.

I purchased a GT6000 garden tractor last year with the intention of buying the snow thrower attachment after I sold my snow blower. The assembly instructions were pretty good as long as you have some mechanical ability. I found one error, but not a big one as long as you?re read the correct path for your tractor. I highlighted the trail for my GT. I did install the chains and heavy wheel weights and that was the right decision. We had a few storms up here, including heavy wet snow. All I can say is once you know what you are doing, the units works perfectly. We got hit with a 30" storm recently and this was the test. It worked great. The only minor issue was the chute does not go 90 degrees to the left, about 100. I think I can modify it. That was not a big issue. The problem I found is the angle adjustment was either all the way up or down. it would not stay in any other position. Other than that, a great unit.

It sure throws the snow but assembly is TOUGH! I am a skilled mechanic and it had me cursing. The bigest problem with it was the fact that the drive pully on the auger was installed backwards from the factory and ground the case when the PTO was engaged ! A novice would never have figured this out ! Once assembled CORRECTLY it works great.

I've had one on my tractor for 10 years, still works great, and I just installed one on my parents tractor. They work great. highly recomend them to anyone.

This thing eats snow unlike anything I have used before. This completed the package that allows me to use my yard tractor year around. Assembly was time consuming, but was exact as manual stated, just need to follow step by step & make sure you pick the right parts for your application.

I bought this wonderful unit 2 years ago and haven't had a problem with it yet. This past winter, we broke our areas all time seasonal snowfall record (over 132 inches) and this unit didn't sputter once. I have yet to snap a shear pin, or replace a belt. Assembly was pretty straight foreword if you followed the directions and paid attention to which tractor you were installing it to. Insure you check and insure that this unit will attach to your tractor before you buy. Install kit has parts for many different models so parts will be left over after you're done. This blower was tossing the snow up to 50 feet away. I even needed to remove some snow from the roof due to snow load, then used this blower to remove the 6 foot high by 10 foot pile from around the house with no problem. Yes, I had to tunnel this in, then back up to cave in the tunnel, then remove that but had no problem with it moving it all out. The only thing stopping me from giving this unit a 5 star rating was the chute not being adjustable enough to shoot the snow out a full 90 degrees to the left side. Best you can get is around 100 degrees to the left which does make it difficult for me in some areas. I am using this blower with the Craftsman YTS4500 26 HP tractor. A relative also has this blower attached to a smaller Craftsman tractor but is also not having any problems.

The first 2 times I used this I loved. It has been down hill since then. I have had to order mounting brackets twice, replacebelts, skid shoes, skid plate etc. The worst thing about it is that it will no longer lift up-meaning it stays at the same height off the ground whether I have it up or down. It used to lift a good six inches off the ground. This means that when I have to take it out of the shed to get to the driveway I end upscrapping the yard all to you know what. I previously had a John Deere and went back to Craftsman becuase that is what I was raised on, but no anymore. THe quality just is not there anymore. It does however move the snow and my son likes riding it with me,
