I purchased Peerless Lawn Garden Tractor Tire Chains at the recommendation of the Sears sales associate who sold me my snow plow blade attached to my YTS 4000 Yard Tractor. At first, I did not feel that they would be necessary but bought them "just in case". My cement drive is about 100' long and very steep. After a couple of light snowfalls, I was able to plow the drive with plenty of traction without using chains..just wheel weights. Well..my thinking changed when we had a wet, heavy snow of about 2.5 in. After getting to the bottom of the drive, it was a struggle to get the traction to get back up to the garage. That's when I decided it was time to put the chains on. I had never used chains before and found that it only took me about 10 minutes to put them on and try them out. The directions in the Peerless pamphlet were clear and accurate, making installation of the chains a snap.
The improved traction was immediately felt when I reached the bottom of the drive, turned around and started back up. I could feel the wheels dig in and grab without loosing traction. I went back up and down the drive several times without any issues.
I'm a believer in the Lawn Garden Tractor Tire Chains from Peerless and wouldn't even think of Plowing without them on the wheels. I'm grateful to the Sears sales associate for his suggestions...he was right!
I recommend the Peerless Tire Chains and hope that if you plan on doing any plowing, you'll consider them as part of your snow removal equipment.

Need a way to keep them tight. I use bungy cords.

Very difficult to install. They won't fit out of the box. When you lay them flat on the ground you will notice that there is a twist in the 2 outer chains that cause the cross chains to twist and not lay right on the side walls of the tires. This makes it appear that the chains are to short to fit the tires.I had to pry apart 5 of the cross chains at both ends the straighten out the main chains and re-assemble for both wheels. Added about an hour of wasted time. Once I did this the chains fit properly. Can't believe they come assembled like that from the factory. Poor product control! Sure hope they are worth the hassle.

I don't know about other but I bought this twice from on-line and dealer. I have to return it because it is too short. I brought it back to the Sear and had them put on the 18x9.5.8 tire at the display. He played with it for an hour and gave up. He recommended me to buy 20X10x8 for mine. I bought it but it is too long. Since snow all over my side walk. I must put it on. I is not perfect fit but at least I can put it on.

I have a Sears LT 2000 I purchased in October 2009. The LT does a fine job clearing our 75ft driveway with the the 42 inch snow blade and rear tire chains. 6-8 inches are no problem. I do not have weights on the rear wheels. I am 220lbs and don't think the weights will make much of an improvement. I may purchase chains for the front tires. The front tires skid a bit when pushing snow at an angle. The chains are a bit tough to hook together. I deflated the tires a bit to make it easier to get the chains locked on.

Installed these chains on my Craftsman YTS-4000. This was my first attempt at installing chains on any type of tire. A few things: 1. The chains fit the tires on the tractor just fine. But I "hated" the difficulty in getting the Locking Link to fasten to the chains during installation. Used pliers like the manual recommended and with some brute force (and cussing) got the Link "locked" for each tire. Got the chains on tight! It would seem that these Links could be easier to connect and concerned about their strength since the metal is thin compared to the thickness of the chains they are connecting. 2. Despite the difficulty installing the chains, I am impressed on how much traction they provide. I know for certain that there would be no way that I could plow my driveway without them. The tractor has plenty of power to plow through the snow we have received so far (8 inches) and the chains helped provide the traction to get the power down to push that snow. 3. I am very glad that I purchased them. I chose the "Ship to Store" option since after checking with my local Sears associate, it seems that they do not regularly stock this item even though I would think it would be a no brainer here in Michigan for the winter months.

the photo is of the wrong chains. those are 3 link skip the one you get are 1 link skip which is better. good chains, some ajustability, easy to install. i should have put them on when i bought them. i was waiting till winter for use with the blade but they help a lot in my sandy area esp. since i use my mower as a light tractor ( lt2000 / lts2000 ) more than a mower. cut grass once a week but the mower runs daily!

Bought these chains when I bought the tractor as I plan on buying a snow blade for the winter - new house with a 100" driveway... They fit fine and should help do the trick.

I bought my craftsmen lt1500 for mowing my rather hilly newly planted yard and found out that i couldent do the hills with out running the risk of tipping over or sliding down the hills. so i thought i would look into better tires or chains. I read the reviews for the chains and everybody loved them for traction on there drives and pusshing snow. so i wasnt sure about my needs for my yard. Just one word describes the results, perfect! I can drive up and down the hills with no slippage. and yes i do exceed the mfg tractor incline of 15 degree slope. Its more like 30 or 40 degree. (wish i had pics to show). oddly enough i got better traction going forward up hill than trying to back up the hill. Never once did i feel like i was going to tip. I still wouldent go sideways on the hills. chains or not, not a smart idea. Pain to put them on but worth the effort. Does not tear up the lawn like you night think. I use caution turnning around on newer concrete drives. So far very good.

These chains make a big difference. I couldn't ride my tractor (with the plow on the front) up my driveway before these. After putting them on, my wheels didn't slip nearly at all. Adding these made a great difference. Based on recommendations on this forum, I used a car jack to lift my tractor off the ground and it made installing the chains a snap - maybe 5 minutes. If you have patio pavers, be careful. They'll scratch your pavers if you allow the wheels to spin (with the chains on) and ruin the pavers. I learned that the hard way.

I have been plowing snow with my Sears tractor for only a couple of years and I can honestly say that I abuse the chains I have. I have really put them to their limits and they have not broken. A little tough to put on. Highly recommend putting the chains on when the weather is still decent and BEFORE you put on any wheel weights. The chains are great for going up our 1/4 mile long gravel driveway. Highly recommend them.
