I will follow this review up once I have had a few cuts on it but wanted to add somethings for people researching lawn tractors. I have gone through and over just about every mower there is in the 42" 20ish HP category. This is the one I settled on and I want to let you know why. First off I graded the tractor a 4 instead of a 5 for its color and engine. I am weary about this new Brigg and Stratton. I have read the material and it is comparable to the Kholer. It has the pressure lub system and the V twin 2 cylinders. I hope it pans out and don't really like black and yellow over the craftsman Gray but that it all it comes in. Here are my PROS of the machine. It has 4 deck wheels, the v-twin pressure engine (even though it is a B&S), great access to the above portion of the deck for cleaning, a cleaning system with quick connect hose coupling to wash the underneath side of the deck (we'll see how this works), high back chair, easy access to oil filter, bumper, good turning radius, 10" tires, and deep deck. This tractor had all the essentials I was looking for in a yard tractor for a good price (with a 10% discount and mail in rebate for the 3 year service plan. I had to order this mower and it comes in 2 days so I will follow up in a months time.

I was excited after ordering this tractor. It seemed like a solid machine at a great price. Well the day of delivery came and sears dropped the tractor off when they said they would. I had ordered the tractor with the mulching kit. Well they dropped it off, and that's all they did. They gave me a box with the mulching kit and front bumper separate. I was told that they were contractors and not sear employees so I had to change the blades and add the bumper myself. That wasn't going to happen so I decided to follow the directions and start the tractor up. No such luck!!! After 20 minutes of cranking the starter the machine refused to start. I am calling them up and returning the tractor. I should have and will now go get a John Deere. I guess it's true: You get what you pay for!!!!!!!!

I have to stop every 2-3 rounds to clean it off, takes twice as much time.

Hood fit loosePurchased this model Oct 29, 2009. Great seat, easy start, turns tight around trees, easy to set the cutting height, easy to drop the brush guard and open the hood, nice automatic transmission and good speed control. The hood fit is a little sloppy and the tire tread traction is not the best. Maintence looks good, easy to drain the oil.

Traqnsmission disengage lever too flimseI was on the fence a while about how big of a mower I needed for my 3/4 acre yard with a fair amount of obstacles like trees, a pool to avoid blowing debris into, and lots of flowerbeds. I eventually decided a ZTR just wasn't warranted and purchased this mower about 1.5 months ago. I've cut the yard 5 or 6 times now, and have been very pleased with the quality of cut and ease of use for this mower. It seems to be well made, and I hope to run it for many years. It would have been nice to come with a mulching plug.

They adjusted choke adjustment to make it start up fast. They canceled two apointments in a row after I waited home most of the day. The Customer service in India is a big disapointment and a slap in the face when you want to buy a USA Product and deal with local people. Call the One Source 800 number to talk to someone that knows what they are selling. I am finally happy with the way the tractor is performing. Buy one of these tractors with the foot pedal transmission control as the hand control is good if you cut grass on a flat yard, but if you come to a dropoff it could slip over and kill you if you are not quick because the brake and the time you shift it in reverse will give it time to roll over edge!!!!. Also the Tractor Scoop option is best suited to the larger Garden Tractors that are more capable.I would have bought the Larger Tractor if I knew. Fours Stars now
