I did a lot of research before I decided on the PGT 9000. I looked at many comparable models from other manufacturers and my deciding factor was that you got much more for your money with this tractor. I was hoping that I would like it as much in reality as I did on paper. Well, I have had the tractor for the bulk of the summer now and it has not disappointed. It is very solid, mows great, rides smooth and has a lot of options. I especially like the 12 cutting positions. I use the tractor to mow a 2.5 acre lawn with some obstacles and minimal slopes. It mows so well I actually look forward to the chore I used to hate. I have had no problems with this tractor and would recommend it to anyone. Don't forget to follow the setup section in the manual which instructs on adjusting tire pressure, deck leveling, etc.

Got the tractor home and the first problem was poor starting, second smoke, third crack in the mower deck. Very poor response by the service department. Actually no help what so ever. For only a few dollars more I could have a true professional grade garden tractor. Don't buy Sears products, my advice.

WARNING! ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING A "DOZER BLADE" FOR THIS TRACTOR,STOP,,DONT DO IT. YOU MUST REMOVE THE CUTTING DECK,,AND LEAVE IT OFF. THE CUTTING DECK WILL NOT GO BACK ON WITH THE BLADE KIT INSTALLED. EVEN IF YOU REMOVE THE BLADE THE HARDWARE KIT THAT BOLTS TO THE FRAME WILL NOT ALLOW THE DECK TO BE USED. ALL THE MOUNTING KIT MUST BE REMOVED EVERY TIME , IT IS A TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP.

I selected and paid a little more for the "professional" grade mower since I have about 4 acres to cut weekly. Most of the yard is fairly level but there are some rough patches as well, so I wanted a tractor with some power. The first 2 or 3 weeks everything was fine, the tractor "cut grass:, nothing special, but it worked. Each week following... I ran into more and more stalling issues. After 2 hrs the tractor wouldnt start, I would let it set for 1/2 hr then It would work, then it took 1 hr to sit before working, then 2, 3, 4 and so on. I bought the tractor in May '09, by Aug 09 and about 45 hrs of riding time, it shut down completely. Of course I ran through all of the troubleshooting steps, to no avail. It seemed to be overheating. I called the warranty dept, some one came out 5 days later. He said the gas cap was TOO TIGHT!? Well believe it or not, he was partially correct. I was cutting this weekend and the tractor started to gasp and sputter, I loosed the cap and....vroom, the sputtering went away ...until an hr later whe the ******* thing just shut down AGAIN--lifted the hood (which you need to disconnect everything if you want to open and stay open--sucks) and it was very hot. I am sorry, but I should be able to cut for 2 hrs without the mower shutting dowwn for any reason on a 4 month old tractor! Beyond the sucky Briggs and Stratton, made in China engine...compared to my ***** 14 yr old Yardman tractor,.... There is a large vibration, the mower is uncomfortable, the gas petal is angled forward but your feet naturally want to angle to the right so your foot keeps sliding off of the petal, back fires when stopping if you do not bring down the choke, it is very slow, collects more grass and clippiongs than other mowers I have owned. Over all, it looks nice, but who cares, the tractor is not worth the money, if you have a larger yard, invest a few more dollars in a real mower; sears quality has gone way down-hill.
This is a Great Tractor for the money but 2 Issues need to be corrected.
1. The left front deck wheel (looking from seated position) needs to be moved about 3-4 Inches further in from the edge of the mower deck. Where the wheel is currently located the wheel is subject to damage when cutting close to curved Beligum Block Driveway. I moved the wheel over by mounting a 6 inch flange on the inside of the existing wheel bracket and remounted the wheel on the inside side of the flange.
2. The ability to raise the mower deck higher than you can currently. I am not able to raise the deck high enough to drive over certain areas. I did not have this problem with any of my previous (6) Lawn Tractors.
Other then those two issues I am completly satisfied with the powerful Lawn Tractor.
