    14" Rear Tine Tiller April 01, 2009

This tiller is a real workhorse, I have been very satisfied with it. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure the bolts are tight on the already assembled parts. One of the bolts fell off of the belt guard and was lost in the garden, but that was not a problem to replace.

    Better Tillers April 13, 2009

I have had my tiller for a few weeks and had the sears repair tech out twice. This tiller has a elecrical problem as far as staying running.I believe this tiller has a magneto problem which sears is going to fix.5 stars for the sears repair techs. The rear tine door is not alined right due to the miss alined hole on the tine cover. Factory quality control is poor. I would check out other brands before spending you hard earned money on this tiller. Sorry Sears.Everything I have is sears ,chainsaw pressure washing and garden tractor and all of them are great except the tiller.

So far, good machine April 29, 2010
    By ackerrj of Mead, CO
    Cons:
    Nothing negative.

I bought this machine 3 years ago on sale brand new and crated.  Yesterday I took it out of the crate, and put it together.  Today I used it to till a roughly 30 x 20 foot plot.

This is Colorado, and we have clay.   I was told by a farmer buddy that a tiller would not cut it, and the plot would have to be plowed...

The ground was a little moist, and that helped.  This tiller worked beautifully on Colorado sod.

A little more compost and a little more tilling and I am ready to plant.

drive chain breaks every 1/2 hour of use 3 in 2 seasons April 11, 2010
    By donpayton of Greenfield, IN
    Cons:
    cheep drive chain

8 hp. rear tine.  drive chain for wheels broke for its third time now. about every 1/2 hour of use.  tilling backyard garden 15ft by 25 ft.  14+ dollars for chain plus shipping(7 to 17 dollars). no repair center carries it.  2 to 3 hours to change for the mechanically inclined person.

500 for tiller and now over a 100 in chains and shipping plus the time for a 2 year old tiller.  and the breakdown when you really need it before it rains.  never again will i buy anything CRAPSMAN

Rototiller is GREAT! February 10, 2010
By Mrexter of Sierra Vista, AZ
    Pros:
Easy to manuver and starts up easily.
    Cons:
    Nothing negative.

This tiller is GREAT!  It is very quite and shifts very easily.  It eats through hard dirt like it is nothing.  I have read other posts that say it shifts hard.  This is NOT TRUE!!  This tiller shifts very smooth and easily. Starts on the first pull.

The shear pins work great and they are supposed to.  Very easy to replace.  I picked up a large rock and sheared off the pin.  Went back to Sears and bought a pack and very easily replaced the broken one.  Machine not damaged in the least and works great.  I would recommend buying a pack when you buy the tiller.

Overall, I would highly recommend this tiller.

Versatile tiller for the price December 01, 2009
    By PEB123 of Brookfield, WI
    Pros:
Easy to manuver and starts up easily.
    Cons:
    Belt cover rattles a bit.

I recently purchased this tiller from a Sears outlet store.   Minor cosmetic damage, but otherwise it was in good shape.  I tested it in our large garden for several hours.   Worked like a champ.   This tiller has some features that are better than others.   The first is that it is belt driven, and has shear pins.  Some of the others I have purchased (and returned) have a direct shaft drive.   Shaft drives are no good since you have to disengage the wheels manually to move it around.   On this tiller, forward, reverse and neutral are handled via a lever.   The engine runs smooth and has ample power to churn a mix of clay and topsoil.   The downside of this tiller is that it rattles a lot.   The mounting bolts and screws for the belt cover were not tightened adequately.   With some threadlock on the screws and an extra lock washer on the bolts things quited down quite a bit.   Cover still rattles a bit, but bearable.   My neighbor has the same model that is about five years old.   He has a huge garden and his machine still runs like a top.  Overall, the tiller does the job and is fairly easy to manuver.
