I bought this generator 1-1/2 years ago. When I brought it home, after minor assembly, I added the included oil, filled it with gas. It started on one pull and ran perfect. I connected it to my home and "test drove" it for a couple of hours, and it ran flawlessly.
Well, the other day, 2/7 - 2/10, in the "Old Dominion" we had a record snow storm and lost power for 4 days. When we first lost power it was 15 degrees outside. I was so glad that I had this generator. I wheeled it out of the garage and turned on the fuel petcock, pulled the starter cord, and like magic it was back to life, purring like a kitten.
I power my whole home (gas furnace, hot water heater, well-pump, two refrigerators, 42" HDTV, and whole house lights and outlets) with this Gen. except for the A/C Unit and Dryer. It might be nice to have a larger generator, but then again it uses more fuel than this one. I was getting more than10 hours on a full tank. Oh yeah, the stat-station is a great meter. Better than an hour meter, the stat-station not only gives you a percent of power being used, but also warns you of when to check (and change) the oil, check/change air filter, and change spark plug at pre-programmed intervals.
This 'bad boy' pumps out the power that kept my family comfortably warm, with plenty of hot water. It provided us with a safe secure felling when my poor neighbors had to abandon there homes because of the frigid temperatures we had encountered during those days.
Be prepared; don't wait until this happens to you. Everyone loses electric - when will you be hit. I was not about to let that happen to me and my three little ones. Believe me, the time to buy a generator is when you do not need it, because when you do need it . . . it is probably too late.

I bought this unit in Sept 08 and have yet to pull the start cord. It has leaked oil since I bought it, and it's on the third trip back to the repair shop. It takes two to three weeks turnaround to have them try and fix it. Each time I get it back, I let it sit in the garage for about 7 days, and there is a pool of oil on the floor. I just hope they can fix the unit before the warranty runs out. Would certianly like to see if it runs.

Easy to start, always ready. Used many times at home and at Deer camp works great. More power than I ever needed.
Im a contractor in New Jersey . I needed to replace an old vangard generator. I investigated the performance specs of a number of generator brands. In the end I would only feel comfortable with my sears pick. The price was right , and the specs seemed quite good as compared to a similar and very expensive Honda version. Its been two plus years averaging two full days a week. This 5600 watt Craftsman generator stands up to any brand. I start it with one pull. It powers my compressor, mitre box, skill saw, halogen lights quite well off a 100' extention. I have to recommend this generator. I could have made a huge mistake by either paying for a cheap 'throwaway' or an expensive generator when that kind of expenditure would have been totally unessasary . Sears makes a good product.

The Craftsman Briggs & Stratton Generator 5600 watts is OK for camping but a little noisy. The leg that holds the front of the generator up is not good it keeps bending and the rod it is attached to is a little light weight too. Other than that it works Good
