Great generator! February 28, 2011
I purchased this unit in the summer of 2009, didn't need it until 02-20-2011. Started on the second pull. Ran it for 4 days straight. Purchase at least 3 separate Yellow Jacket 100' 12 gauge extension cords (lifetime guaranteed) to not cause the unit to trip a breaker. I had three things on one line. My mistake, My fault, not the generators fault. Unit has 4 outlets for 110 and 2 outlets for 220. The second I purchased 2 more 100' power cords it ran like a charm. Has a meter to show the current load on the system. I ran a sump pump, refrigerator, 4 lights, furnace, computer, monitor and printer and it only reached 40 out of 100 on the load. A little louder than normal but a great product! Would buy it again...

starting problems March 14, 2010
I bought this generator on December 14th of 2008 because we were out of power for 2 days. By the time I got it home, we got our power back and never got to use it. I use to start it once a month. Then we lost power in late Feb of 2010 and I ran it for 16 hours. Used 2 tanks of gas and filled it with oil after both tanks. Now it will not start. I changed the oil, replaced the spark plug, cleaned the spark arrestor, drained the gas and added fresh gas, cleaned the gas line. nothing works. This is the second generator I have bought with a briggs abd stratton engine, and don't have much faith in them. I have a log splitter with a Briggs also, and have the same exact problem with it. Hopefully Sears will stand behind this Generator and make it right.

Cons:
No power being producedThe generator runs fine, but the breaker or power supply will not work. I tried resetting the breaker, but still no juice. Looks like it's a lame duck.

Worked fine during 2-1/2 day power outage except for minor oil leak. I had purchased the at-home repair plan from Sears so I called them to repair it, as instructed by Briggs & Stratton. After two visits from tech and repair part order they tell me it can't be fixed. Something about the armature is also bad and the manufacturer doesn't supply a tool to dismantle the system. Further, Sears can't get a replacement unit and won't refund my money because it's more than 30 days old. Bottom line is I have non-functioning generator under manufacturer warranty which can't be repaired or replaced. I have to take my purchase-price credit and apply to another unit from Sears as part of a "customer solutions case." Somehow I'm not feeling confident in either Sears or Briggs & Stratton.

- easy start,Strong enoughDuring the Oct. 29, 2011 snowstorm, we were 6 days without our refrigerator/heat/water/lights/toilet and the ability to use our well. We were finally able to purchase the Briggs & Stratton Generator on Day 7. We had an electrician hook us up to our circuit breaker box and welcomed the simple pleasures of life that we sometimes take for granted. We were able to use the generator to give us heat, refrigerator power, well power for running water and toilet, one light and a small t.v. and internet once that service was re-established. We have the generator stored in the event of another power-losing storm.
