King Pin  Quick -Connect Hitch Pin

The first time I used my KingPin, it broke! I fixed it but the next time, the same thing happened again. I had to dismantle the trailer hitch to extract it. The problem is the little clip that controls the drop down wings. It comes disconnedted from the wing so that when you pull up on the yellow handle to take the pin out, one of the wings is still extended.

Makes my job easier and is easy on my back and legs.

Used it for about five years before it finally broke today. Way handier than a standard type hitch pin with a cotter pin. Used it all season, always was attached to my lawn tractor. Hauled my little green wagon and also my leaf sucker. When just mowing, I left the King Pin attached to the tractor hitch so it wouldn't get misplaced. Only problem was it would start sticking after a while (maybe once a season). The solution: a good dousing with 3-in1 oil. Just squirted it on till it was dripping out the ears. Then, good to go. I'll buy another one if I can't find something better real soon.

The shaft is too long so when whatever you are towing has too much weight, it will lift up which makes the two small metal pieces get stuck and then you cannot lift it out of the hitch hole. Good idea but not a strong enough design.

This quick-connect hitch pin works great on just about any lawn and garden tractor and/or riding lawn mower, including any Craftsman model, but also my Simplicity mowers, Allis-Chalmers AC130 and Massey-Ferguson 2927. Very simple, yet helpful product around the home and/or farm. Thank you!

Well, What can I say exept , this piece of Plastic lasted about three times I hooked my Mower and trailer together with it. Why in the world would you make something like this out of plastic, when you could just as easly made it to last. When I recieved it and looked at it I wondered how long it would last. Now I know . Not long at all, and for the price and shipping and stuff, as us ole boys from the South say "It ain't worth spit!" So if you buy it plan on being dissapointed.........The pulling rod inside the metal frame is "PLASTIC" ! Tell me you ain't smart enough to make one of these things out of last long hard to break Metal and cover it with plastic instead of the other way around..........

I purchased the King Pin last year. Never left it outside, always stored in shed. Last week after hooking up Sears Lawn Tractor, and Sears yard trailer, I used it to haul items from front to back of the house and never exeeded 40LBS. When I went to disconnect it jammed so bad that after 30 minutes of attemps to get it to release I ended up cutting it in half. Highly recommend that you do NOT buy.

The design of the two "wings" needs improvement.  The wings extend out at the bottom of the pin and do not retract evenly on both sides when squeezing the retraction handle.  One of the wings protrudes out further and can get stuck on the edge of the hole as the pin is being pulled up for removal. A little "convincing" is necessary sometimes and finally the pin/wings can be pulled thru the hole.

When looking into an exchange, I checked another unit at the store and found it to be made the same.   I found the pin was a tight fit on my Craftsman tractor so not a lot of wiggle room for pulling this out.  I could see how any other contamination in the spring or joints where the wings are attached would keep the wings from functioning at all (as mentioned by at least one customer previously).  If noting else, keep the wing area cleaned but with minimal lube so as to not attract excess dirt.

I'll keep the other hitch pins around  in case this fails or I give in from frustration.  This king pin does save one the hassle of bending down and installing cotter pins and works fine for typical yard use.  The design fails because the wings can be uncooperative especially where more dirt and contamination are being kicked up in the hitch area.  I'll go 50/50 and give it a 3.

Broke after light use, too fragile for ANY lawn tractor application. Not recommended, stick with the regular hitch pins, they don't break.
