I picked this up yesterday while at Sears to buy the next model down. For an extra ten dollars I got an extra chain and a spring-suspended handlebar.
Today I took it up to the slash piles and had two truckloads at home before I knew it. It cuts through 12"+ logs like they're nothing. But the fact that I could feel absolutely no vibration actually made 'wood gettin' fun for once. That and the light weight (I have weenie arms) made for a very easy day.
The toolless chain adjusting takes about 20 seconds...beats the 10 minutes I'd have to spend with my old clunker.
The one almost negative I've found is that it doesn't start as easily as I'd hoped it would. But it starts. And it keeps running. I kind of like that for a change.
To the people who find Craftsman saws losing quality after their first year: you have to winterize it if you're not going to use it for 30 days or more. You also have to use fresh gas and the proper oil mixture every time. This is standard operating procedure for all small engines. Take care of your equipment, your equipment will take care of you.
I wouldnt even know where to start. Engine will die unless at full throttle...this problem is fixable with some enginge adjustments...only problem is after you finally get it running u will notice it drips and oozes bar oil everywhere...on your shoes, driveway, itself....it literally sprays bar oil everywhere even huge gloops of it come out from time to time. On a positive note your chain will have plenty of oil. Save the time and trip back to sears spend a little more and get a husq the first time

Worse product I ever purchased from Sears!!! Under powered engine compared to other saws with same cc. Chain tensioner did not work correctly and saw wouldn't stay running !!!!!!! Spend a few dollars more for better better saw. You'll be much happier in the long run.

I'm a DIY'r and this saw works just great for my yard work needs. Plenty of power when the time comes to take down that dead tree, or branches.

Probably poor factory assembly. exchanged and ok.
Little Rock, AR
In fairness, this is my first chainsaw - but it starts with no problems (if you follow the directions) and had plenty of power to tear up a 50-60 foot tall tree that fell in our yard during a snow/ice storm. I was lucky and found it on clearance. I only hope that whatever model replaced this one can live up to this.

Bought this after my other chainsaw finally gave in mixed gas oil like it say's in manual used only non ethanol fuel started up second pull used now for about a month cutting and clearing for most would be about a years worth of work still runs good does need chain sharpend but good for the price
Stirling, NJ
I used this for 1 day after storm Sandy and it froze. The local shop told me that it overheated from the use. Its not worth the money. Send a few bucks more and get a Stihl!
Sandusky, OH
GREAT LITTLE SAW - ONLY DOWN FALL IS THE BAR OIL FOR SOME REASON LEAKS OUT OVER TIME, OTHER THAN THAT POWER IS PERFECT CUTS AWESOME

This is my 3rd Craftsman chainsaw, I still have the first one, but it needs more parts that its worth to repair. I also own a 22" Husqvarna for the big trees. This was for those 8-15 inch trees. I like the quick chain adjustment and it always starts on the first pull. However, the chain itself has to be made overseas, for some type of toy chainsaw as it is beyond thin. Like many reviewing, I went through one in about 3 trees. I upgraded to an Oregon and there are a number of heavier chains out there to make the saw workable. Except for the sadly deficient chain, this is about the best you can get for under $200 and with 2 stroke (my 4 stroke Husq weights 5 lbs more)

Very easy to start and restarts easily too. Decent amount of power. Auto chain tension good for quick adjustment with minimal time loss. Good length for decent size tree but does small things as well. Added bonuses unit came with spare chain, oil and case. Out of the box just add your oil and gas and go. Unit is very easy to use. I like it!

Ok so I am no lumberjack however I had the need to purchase a saw for trimming the bottom of Christmas trees. I shopped everywhere including Sears. When I went into my local Sears I talked with the salesman about saws. I had pointed out this one and asked why it was marked down, his answer was that it was made by Huskverner and the new ones are made by Poulin. So the new ones are a bit less money but not the same quality. So after having this in my hands for a few minutes I decided I would buy it. I did also read some reviews where some had said it was hard to start, not the case if you read the directions. I got it home fired it up cut 2 pieces of wood and thought it did ok. Now we had just had hurricane Sandy blow through and it knocked over a 70 foot pine tree in my back yard. I was like a kid with a new toy at Christmas. I ran got my new saw and in a short time had it all cut up. This tree was almost 18" thick but the saw had no trouble with it. I must say I am very happy.
