I had this mower for half of the summer and it has been awesome! The easily adjustable handle is perfect for switching between me (tall) and my wife (not so tall) and likewise is the adjustable speed. The thing is a monster mower chewing up my overgrown lawn again and again.
By the way, I mulch exclusively and have no issues with the mulch cover that one reviewer stated caused excess dust or clippings.

Stay Very Far Away From this Machine it is a piece of Junk.....
I bought this mower in August 09 and used it 7 times for normal mowing and took it back to Sears and this mower is a piece of junk. I am awaiting Sears decision on it. The rear wheel drive is broken the rod for bagging is so bent I can't use the bagging feature anymore. I am in the process of putting my house on the market for sale and need to do my lawn and have it look perfect. The engine sounds like it is about to blow up. I hate the fact their is no line in the oil compartment to let you know that you are low or full on oil. Good way to blow up an engine. Wicked heavy machine. Handles not stable. I hate the fresh start fuel option. It cost $12.00 for 2. This machine is horrifically made and in my book so unacceptable that I didn't even get a full year of mowing out of this machine before it totally broke down for the money I paid for the unit. Stay very very far away from this mower. Snapper is made by craftsman.

See all reviews for this productWe have owned 5 mowers in the last 10 years. Everything from a supposed top of the line rider to a ultra crappy two-stroke self propelled. When the two-stroke crapped out after only 10 months, we went to several retailers to scope out prices and quality.
Sears had always been good to us so we decided to look there as well as the box stores. I saw this Snapper and knew that they had a good reputation, plus it was on sale, so we thought "What the heck. Let's try it!".
It has been a month since that day and we have been VERY pleased with it! Our lot is a bit over an acre and we mow at least once per week. (to give you an idea of the size, it takes about 90 minutes to mow) It does this very well, even with the mulcher in place! We haven't tried the bagger yet because we have such a large lot that we would be emptying it often. Besides, mulched grass is a very good fertilizer!
The engine has not used any oil and powers through thick grass as tall as 6-8 inches with only a minor strain. When starting this beast, all it takes is a mild pull. You won't put your shoulder out of joint with this baby! My wife says she loves the way she can start it so easily and how the handle can adjust from being comfortable for me to being good for her. Honestly, I like this feature too.
The only negative she can think of is that the gas tank needs to be larger for our situation, but I think the average homeowner will not have this issue. I don't really have any negatives for it myself.
I cannot praise this mower enough! Very well designed and seems to be very sturdily built. Look over the pros listed, then look at the cons and realize many of the so-called cons are nit-picky silly things. (such as "Rear Drive Breaks". Ummm, this mower is a FRONT drive, not a rear drive)
Thanks for reading this review and if you are looking for a great mower, this little charmer will fit the bill quite nicely! Besides, like my ever-faithful Harley, it is made here in the gool old USA!!! Buy American!!
Multi-tasking Chore MachineOK. My new Snapper was is very difficult to start and began to sputter after only 4 months. That is 1 month over the 3 months Sears return policy without buying any extended warranty plan.
I do not have a big yard and only used about 7 times. Not only did it have troubles with starting and sputtering after 4 months, but the front grey belt protector began to melt right underneath the muffler. The belt that propels the front wheel is now exposed.
I called the Sears customer service hotline and the kind lady told me to take it back to the product pickup area. I did that and they took it and told me to go inside the store a counter where I should be able to get a new mower or a refund.
The instore counter then sent me to the repair area where I waited in line for about 45 minutes. The guy working there was not a happy fellow. He told me that they would send it off and call me in 10 days.
After 10 days, I stopped in at around 3:00 and it was ready...no phone call. Bad carborator and please use fresh fuel and stabilizer. Fair enough.
I took it home and with fresh fuel and stabilizer it started...the first time. After it shut down once, it took 15 pulls and letting it sit for 15 minutes to get it going again. It continues to have the same issues starting up each time now. It takes me lots of pulls and it struggles to start up. Now once it gets going it cuts fine. The melted hole in the plastic cover under the muffler continues to grow. Guess I will give Snapper a call. Either way I am selling this used, getting my money back, or selling a replacement if given.
I really took care of this thing and was proud to spend a little extra money on a great name brand mower and engine. This is the first new mower I have ever purchased and I feel ashamed of it. I will continue this saga after its resolution if the post allows for it. I would not recommend this mower.

always outsideCheap very poorly made material all around this mower. All cables are razor thin and will not last a year. Rear wheels and adjustments, are made of very very poor quality. Do not waste your money, other mowers much better quality on the market.
