Many people have complained about the engine not wanting to start and the primer not being an option. This has been our solution to the problem. My son was not able to get it to start again on just the second use. My husband figured out that you have to give it one quick tug first to get the motor spinning and then give it a second tug immediately to get it to start. Even my 12 year old son has been able to do it since my husband figured this out. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the starter issue and because the wheels seems rather flimsy. I really hope that they last. But, I do like the larger back wheels and the engine seems very powerful. I've always heard Kohler is a good engine.

Purchased this mower last summer and only use it when I bag. My older mower with a Honda engine is reliable but doesn't bag well since it is getting older. Anyway, the Husqvarna was a nice mower but seems to lack the torque of the Honda.
This past weekend, I fueled and oiled all my yard equipment and made sure everything started. It took several pulls to get the Husqvarna started but it did start and idled well once it warmed up. That was several days ago. Today, my wife ran in from the garage saying it smelled awful of gasoline. Turns out, the Husqvarna has been leaking gas out the air filter since I put it back in the garage. It's a miracle the house didn't catch fire since the gas heater is in the laundry room next to the garage.
Contacted Husqvarna and they said someone would have to look at the mower to determine why it is leaking gasoline. I don't care WHY it is leaking gasoline, this is a bad design and just want everyone to be aware of this issue with this particular model of mower.
I am sticking with Honda engines, they start, run and never leaked gas...

I see a lot of people complaining that this mower leaked gasoline from the air filter. I had the same problem and finally figured out why. If you remove the air filter to clean it or replace, it is possible to position the filter where it is not sealed properly thereby allowing grass and dirt to bypass the filter and get into the carburetor. There is a float in the carburetor that functions as a shutoff valve to keep the correct level of fuel in the carburetor bowl. If this gets dirty, it will get stuck and allow gas to continue to flow into the bowl and then it overflows into the air filter. Back to the air filter placement. When you put the filter in, it should go into the housing for it that is located against the carburetor. Do not put the filter in the "door" with hinges and then close it up because it will leave a large gap at the bottom of the filter. The manual does not show this or mention it. If your mowers is leaking fuel, you will still need to get the carburetor cleaned to fix the dirty float problem.
mowing the lawnI used this lawn mower for the first time in 2011 last week without a problem, then noticed a gas smell in the garage this morning that was not there last night. My husband found the mower was leaking gas into the air filter on the side. It was completely saturated and leaking gas from this area. We immediately removed it from the garage and let all the gas flow out of the air filter. The gasket that held the air filter disintegrated. We bought this last summer and used it twice in 2010. Our previous lawn mower lasted (used on the same lawn) over 20 years and was given to us by a co-worker moving out of state.
