The Limited Edition Front Wheel Drive walk behind 50 State Model is one of the best mowers I ever owned. The cut is great, the power is there for high grass cutting, and starts with no problem. When used in the mulching mode it also preforms well. Grass collection bag is easy on - easy off and has a good capacity. The mower is very quite and fuel efficient for being such a work horse. If there was one thing that I would add to this model it would be at least the ability for one slower speed, not a variable speed, on the drive end. I look forward to having many years of good service from this mower.

For starters, the Honda engine is a wonderful, smooth-running engine. It does have "automatic choke". Just pull the choke lever back, and this thing starts very easily will the first pull! The choke adjusts itself and returns on its own after a few seconds. This is the second summer I've had this mower, and it cuts very well with no problems. I typically use the mulching feature and it chops everything up pretty good. The air cleaner and spark plug is in a very easy place to take apart and clean/replace. The self-propelled part seems to be at just the right speed for me...note that the speed is not adjustable.
There are some cons to this machine to. You won't find a self-propelled Craftsman with the Honda engine and high rear wheels, which is a disappointment. You pretty much have to wear gloves also, as the plastic handle that you pull back on to keep the engine engaged has a severe mold line right where your palms go. Be warned: if you don't wear gloves, you will have blisters! No deck wash attachment. This is only minor to me because I just put a weight on the handle when I'm done and tip it back and spray it out with the garden hose. I've also had the machine back twice under warranty for little things, wingnuts and bolts on the handle attachment that kept vibrating off...even after I used thread-lock on everything! And also for a spring that mysteriously disappeared that holds the plastic plug for the bagger attachment. Other then that, I'm pretty satisfied.

mowing the lawnSad that Sears/Craftsman decided to re-brand this mower. As you search for OEM blade replacements the MTD connection became obvious. A little more research led to the discover this was a MTD/Troybilt mower with Craftsman label. Now I will question/research other craftsman purchases.
growing my foodI just purchased my mower and cut the grass once. The grass was high, damp, and was covered with leaves. it cut and mulched with very little to no clippings left behind. I'm very pleased so far, but will add more info next year after a dozen or so cuts. It started on the first pull every time
mowing the lawnI've had my new mower for about a month now and I am very pleased thus far. The engine is powerful yet quiet compared to my old mower. I would recommend this mower especially when it is on sale!
