TOUGH, Versatile, and Productive
The task: 9 Live Oak trees (60 or 70 years old and 15-18" diameter). The tools: this Remington pole saw and a Craftsman 18" chain saw. Result: trees down and cut up in 2 days; 60% of the work was done with the Remington electric, and the Craftsman did a great job on the other 40%. Flawless performance, excellent utility demonstrated by this fine pole saw on and apart from the pole.

Don't buy Junk
JUNK JUNK JUNK Bought for a xmas present, had great reviews ... Stop working after 2nd day of use cutting a 4" branch on the ground, Good luck trying to get it fixed under warranty.. Remington no help.. Sears was no help either , wouldn't stand behind product they sold even after I couldn't get service from the Manf. only got 1 star since it won't let me give it no stars...

Powerful tool for the money
I was going to buy a Stihl Pole Saw (HT101) because I've used Stihl products before and they tend to be well made. I couldn't pull the trigger on spending $600 though so started looking at alternatives to cut back some fairly large Hemlock trees. I bought the Remington based on the positive reviews which proved to be right. This tool has a lot of power for an electric. It cut through 3 - 4 inch limbs with little effort. Not sure if it is the right tool for larger limbs but I don't think it would have any trouble with branches twice as thick as I needed it for. I also liked using it as a regular chain saw. The only downside I found was dealing with extension cords and occasionally having to plug it back in when the cord gets pulled out. Not a bad tradeoff though considering I saved about $450 (if you include the cost of the extension cord) and didn't have to deal with mixing oil and gas as well as starting issues. I recommend this tool for light to medium pruning jobs.

Betterr than I thought
The pole trimmer actually is quite hardy for the purpose I intended it for. I have a few very tall Washington palm trees in my yard and this saw being light weight has no problem cutting through the fronds. I doubted it's strengths when I removed the pole and used the chainsaw itself for a few cedar tree branches, The saw cut right through the hard wood as well. Though I wouldn't count on this saw to cut and clear a large tree, it serves me well for the maintenance around my yard.

We have two white Crepe Myrtle trees in the landscaping in the front of our house that I like to trim to a height of about 12-feet. If I don't do that they grow into the house and block our view of the street. I bought the Remington electric pole chainsaw so that I wouldn't have to do it manually. I was a little bit concerned when I received the saw yesterday, as the shipping carton was badly damaged, but the saw seemed to be okay and it did a great job. I am left-hand. So, I found the safety switch to be a little difficult to depress, but one I go the knack of how to depress it, I had no trouble using the saw.
I would recommend this product to a friend.
