Cuts like a saw twice its price
I haven't had this chainsaw long, but I read the instructions through completely as advised, assembled the saw just as described in the video on Earthquake's support site, slightly adjusted the chain oil level, and went to work on about 9 pine trees that had threatened to demolish my fence after the first snow this winter. The trees I cut were as small as a couple inches in diameter to as big as 5 and a half inches. That's not a tough task, but I have to admit, this saw cut them down so easily and quickly, it made me wonder why I second-guessed myself for not buying a more traditional name brand. I've borrowed chainsaws for just this sort of work on many occasions. I've used a Craftsman, a Poulan and an Echo. I admit up front that since I borrowed them, so it's safe to assume each of those were older and used, but this saw far outperformed those, and I could not be more happy with my purchase!

Piece of Junk!
I had a very hard time getting it running the first time, took me about 30 minutes just to get it started. It would constantly die after that and would start again on about the 10th pull. After fighting it for an afternoon I tried a new spark plug and that seemed to help for a bit. I was very disappointed that a brand new saw would come with a bad spark plug. The chain that comes with it went dull after about a dozen cuts. You can?t just buy any 16inch chain, unless you buy the ?special? chain you will need to modify the saw as I did. The automatic oiler does not oil the chain enough, even on the highest setting. The other big annoyance of this saw is that once you have been cutting with it for say 15 or 20 minutes it just dies and WILL NOT start again until it cools off for at least 2 or 3 hours. Once it?s hot you are basically done for the day. I returned this POS and bought a Stihl, I have had 0 problems with the Stihl doing the same work!

save your money

After running for about 20 minutes, the saw dies (during idle) and will not restart until it completely cools down.

Pretty good saw!

I was skeptical about this saw because I saw a lot of bad reviews for it at another site. I went ahead and bought it since I had plenty of Sears points to burn off. I've never used a gas chainsaw before so even after reading the instructions I had a hard time starting it. I eventually figured it out (you don't have to hold down the throttle when starting it) and have not had any problems starting it up whether it was hot or cold. Tensioning the chain would be a lot easier with a separate screwdriver instead of the multitool the machine came with but it's not really a big fault. My biggest only problem is the air cover filter next to the pull-start cord. It has a sharp edge that will leave a pretty good cut on a knuckle or finger if you slide it along the body when starting.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good buy

I have cut for two afternoon`s with my Viper saw. It has not dissapointed me. Well balanced and easy to start. It is spunky but could use more torque. Works well up to 12 inch diameter trees and limbs. After that, you need more umphh. Does not leak any oil and the bar is tough. DO buy a better chain than the one it comes with. Lightweight and very easy to start, the best I have owned.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
