Great inexpensive storage solution but directions not great December 20, 2011

Great storage solution but directions need updating.  Some sections in the directions direct you to "do as follows in the picture".  However, the pictures are not very detailed.  If you follow the directions, and I mean really follow them you will be fine.

I put it together myself but needed a second pair of hands when installing the first four sections of walls in all four corners.  Simply no way to hold it yourself and screw it in.  Definitely use a variable speed screw gun.  And, when installing the main roof support just hold one end with a ladder while screwing in one end.  Like I said, the whole thing can be done by yourself except for the first four corner walls.

ONCE AGAIN.  FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER.  IF YOU DON'T YOU MAY FACE UNSCREWING CERTAIN SECTIONS BECAUSE YOU DID NOT LEAVE THE CORRECT HOLES OPEN FOR LATER PARTS THAT CONNECT.

One negative is the low door height.  The clearance from floor to opening is only about 5 feet.  You will have to duck each time to enter.  You may want to go for the newer models that have a 6 foot opening.  I simply needed a 10 x 10 which did not come in a longer door opening.  Something to think about.  It is not great having to duck all the time.

SR1010 ARROW SHED September 13, 2011

Just finished assembling this shed. I DID NOT have any trouble at all with holes lining up or the instructions whatsoever. The instructions are in fact very good, but you do have to pay CLOSE attention...just like anything else. For all the folks who claimed it was a nightmare e.t.c to assemble let me just say "Start with a solid and level foundation". I'm betting that's where most of these people messed up. If your floor isn't level the building has to twist to set down on it's sill plate and then I can imagine hole alignment would be a nightmare. I built mine on a poured concrete slab...assembly was a breeze. ALSO, just start all screws in each panel, then after they are all started, go back and tighten...then proceed to the next panel.

The panels are thin and flimsy, but after it's all together the resultant building is quite strong and sturdy. I assembled all the preliminary steps myself, then a buddy came over and we put the rest together in about 4 hrs. with the exception of roof trim and minor details. I bought the anchor kit also, but you really wouldn't need it. You can instead tap-con thru the sill just as easily and probably just as effectively. I didn't buy the roof strengthening kit either, I'm going to have some better roof beams and gussets fabricated for way less money. The roof kit is nearly half the cost of the whole shed...ridiculous.

Another thing...there are a few things more you can do by yourself (before getting a helper) that will really speed up final assembly. You can have the doors preassembled and the gables assembled beforehand, also be sure to "set-up" all your screws with the washers on them and put together nuts, bolts, and washers before you begin. The instructions don't tell you this, probably because you have to have somewhere out of the wind to store them until you begin assembling. I kept mine in my basement until I got a helper. Use nail aprons to hold your hardware and before starting anything make sure you have 2 11/32" (a 9mm will also work fine) nutdrivers and a phillips screwdriver or drill driver for each person. Alot of reveiwers said the instructions weren't clear or wrong or that there are better ways of assembling etc, etc, etc....they are WRONG. The instructions guide you thru the best steps for assembly. Some things will cause you to scratch your head, but later in the assembly you will see why they did it the way they did.

BE AWARE...the color description off eggshell/taupe is correct. The photo (as of now) shows it more like a clay with dark brown trim. ************ the same kit and their photo shows it the same way, as does their display model. The color has apparently changed recently and nobody that sells this kit have updated their stock photos.

In sum...this is a nice kit. What you see is what you get. Your assembly results will depend on YOU. I recommend a concrete slab for a whole bunch or reasons, but a treated wood framed foundation on a gravel base wood be good too I guess. I wouldn't bother with the floor kits.  I recommend this shed to anyone fairly handy that wants a very inexpensive shed. I think most who build on a level foundation and who follow the instructions will enjoy assembling and be well satisfied with this shed.

A poorly designed shed that leaks August 06, 2011

My husband and I are do-it-yourselfers. We had no problem with the assembly time required for this particular shed and liked everything else about it--color, size, etc. Our old metal shed needed replacing due to hail damage in a recent storm, so we decided to replace it with this one. We already had the foundation beams cemented in the ground (it is raised) and replaced the wood floor before beginning assembly. It was a three day project all-in-all, but most of the assembly of the shed itself took place in a 12-hour period. None of this is a problem for us. The shed looked great when it was completed. We knew it wouldn't be as sturdy as say, a wood shed, but we obviously knew that going in. What has really angered us about this product is that after a light rain, a heavy rain, any kind of rain, it LEAKS. And the leaking is not due to us forgetting to use a rubber washer or anything like that. The leaking is due to design. We tested it with a hose to determine where the problem is, with one of us inside and one of us outside the shed. Apparently, when rain hits the doors, it catches in the barreled track upon which the doors sit. There are holes in the track for drainage purposes, but they obviously don't work. The water fills up the track and leaks out over the top, running back into the shed onto the wood floor. This has happened after every single rain. Right now we have plastic sheeting duct taped to the front doors, blocking the rain. We're trying to determine what we can do to fix this design problem, but we really have no idea. We're contemplating adding some kind of soffet above the door to eliminate the water puddling in the door track; however, we shouldn't have to do anything!!! This shouldn't be a problem. Very frustrating! After all the effort and sweat we put into this shed and the careful assembly we did, we find that it leaks due to design. We would not purchase this shed again and will not purchase anything from Arrow again based on this experience. We are loyal Sears customers but do find some fault with Sears for offering a shed that leaks due to poor design.

This is a good value for the money, but the directions need to be more clear. There are a lot of missing steps and things don't go in the order they should.
