Black & Decker  12 Volt 10 in. Cordless Trimmer/Edger

I have had this trimmer for more than 4 years now and it still works great. The cord lasted me almost 2 years which was very nice. The only down side is now, after 4 years, the battery does not hold its charge very well I have to now edge the back then put it back on the charger to hopefully have enough charge after I mow the front and back to edge the front. One really cool feature is that it can rotate a full 180 to make very clean cuts. I do wish I had gone with the removable battery trimmer rather than this one because this summer I will have to open it up and try to find a replacement battery for it.

I've only used this trimmer twice since I purchased it and so far it's worked great. My yard is your typical housing tract size, so it's not very big. I know that a few reviews have said that the battery runs down quick. However, I haven't had that problem. I haven't had to recharge the battery yet. I love the fact that I don't have to have an extension cord attached and I don't have to use gas. The trimmer is light-weight and easy to maneuver. This trimmer works well for me.

GREAT EDGER LIGHTWEIGHT AND EASY TO USE

We have really enjoyed this trimmer.  Compared to a gas trimmer or one that requires a cord this it is so much easier to use.  I can move all the way around the house without having to worry about unplugging and replugging in or hooking up three extension cords.  I think the lightweight component has been underestimated by other reviewers as well.  My wife is not big by any means, but has no trouble picking up and using the trimmer comfortably.

I am sorry to say that I was a little disappointed with this trimmer. Our old one broke and my husband wrapped this one up as a birthday gift thinking it would solve my problems of trimming far from the house. It does that, however, the batteries only last about twenty minutes, tops. On a lot that is over an acre and a half with four hours worth of trimming to do, With the cost of the batteries on a country lot I would be battery-poor if this were my only option.

My trimmer does not go through string as some have reported. I must admit I do wind my own spools, though. I have had no problems with the edger feature, but found that an electric trimmer has much more power and does a better job. If you have a lot of edging, this probably is not the trimmer for you.

This is a good trimmer for a typical city lot that does not have a lot of brush-type cutting that needs to be done. I would recommend it for anyone that does not have much trimming to do-but if you live in the country, stock up on cords and buy the electric one. I own both now and use them according to my needs.

Overall, this is a great trimmer. It's lightweight, compact, and easy to use. It would be perfect for a small yard.

I have a medium sized yard (qtr acre or so), so I probably should have purchased an 18v trimmer. I get about 70% of my trimming and edging done by the time the battery is dead.

The edger feature works, but its not great if you are used to a stand alone edger.

The autofeed works good most of the time, but sometimes it won't feed even when you have only a couple of inches of line out.

In sum, a great lightweight trimmer for a small yard. Edges okay, but not fantastic. Autofeed usually fine, but occasionally problematic.

I haven't had it very long, but so far it's been easy to use.  Charged overnight for the first time use. 

I am a small-framed woman and was able to manage it around the yard with ease.  I only need to trim the edges of the sidewalk, around the trees, and along the fence line at my house.  This little trimmer was able to handle all of that without a problem. 

The one drawback I found was the charger is actually built into the wall mount.  I haven't taken time to attach it to the wall so charging was a little tricky to get the charger to stay attached to the trimmer.  Once I have it mounted on the wall the problem is solved, but did find this design to be a little annoying.  Should have been built with flexibility in mind so you didn't have to hang it on the wall for charging.

I promise that you will be shocked by this trimmer, especially if you're switching over from gas. Er, maybe "shocked" is a bad word for an electric trimmer. How about "amazed". I was given this trimmer as a gift, and was sure I'd be displeased by it, because I've always been under the impression that you have to have a gas trimmer. Boy, was I wrong! First of all, there's no bumping. You can actually feel when the machine spools you out more line, so you know it's happening. I have a standard 3/4 acre lot with lots of that plastic landscape edging and a wood fence to trim around, and this trimmer does the job quietly, quickly, and is always still well-charged when I finish my trimming. The entire head rotates so that you can use the trimmer to edge, which I do along my driveway, and this baby is, again, surprisingly powerful. It will cut a nice edge on thick Florida St. Augustine grass. For any of you that are thinking you must have a gas trimmer, give this trimmer a try, you will be amazed that you can get the same results without waking up the neighbors and stinking of gasoline. One note: I recommend buying some of that textured trimming line for it vice the standard smooth line, regardless of the trimmer you get.

This was the best Father`s Day present. I am pleased that it is rechargable. No more using extension cords. What a blessing.

It was very light for me as a little woman I just love the way it turn from a trimmer to edger I had know problem with it Thank you and the back wait was not that long.
