This is a simple but effective trimmer that seems well balanced even with the battery pack. I have no complaints with the battery life. Yes, you may want to have a couple batteries charged up if you are doing a considerable amount of trimming, however, that is a small price to pay for going cordless AND not having to mess with a gasoline engine for a medium sized residential landscaping. Keep in mind that you are operating a 19.2v trimmer with a 22" blade...don't expect to trim all day on one battery.
The cutting action on this trimmer is smooth in operation providing a clean cutting action. Operation is fairly quiet with easy trigger operation.
Well done! Now we'll see about longevity.
One note...online availabilty showed in-stock (4/2011) however that was not the case. Ended up finding it in a distant store...none in stock locally.

When I saw Sears had a C3 hedge trimmer it was a must have for me. I checked all the Sears in my area and they were out of stock with no eta on when they would arrive. I went to Sears.com and they were in stock, so I ordered one last Friday. Yesterday, I get a call from my wife saying a large box was delivered from Sears via UPS. It was like Christmas Eve for me. I couldn't wait to get home to unwrap and play with my new toy. I get out of work, race home to find out that Sears shipped me the line trimmer, not the hedge trimmer! Cancel Christmas, Sears shipped me the wrong item and now Sears tells me that they are out of stock and won't have them back in stock for another 2 months!! UGH!! I must be getting old. Why did I get so excited over a hedge trimmer? Thanks Sears....

I was able to complete the work with just one Ni-Cd battery, but I like that I can use a lithium C3 battery if i need more juice. Battery power is definitely a plus with a tool like this, as dragging an extension cord with you gets annoying quickly.

No trigger lock onI purchased this cordless trimmer after reading a bunch of reviews from different sources. I then took a look at the trimer at my local store, and decided to buy it. I have about 100-ft of typical West Coast hedge and this trimmer had no problem dealing with it. The battery life was enough to do the entire job with a single charge, and I am using the nickel-cadmium cells.
For me this is a real treat, having clipped my electrical cords more than a few times as well as the cable TV line, which was hidden at the rear of the hedge. Now that I am acutely aware of that location, it's the only line I have to dodge anymore. I liked mine so much, I bought a second one for my son-in-law, who has a habit of borrowing mine but doesn't bring it back! No more excuses on this tool.
