Not bad for the price September 11, 2008

I needed an edger but didn't want to buy a large bulky model or a flimsy electric or 'weed-eater' style model. This one fit my needs and my budget. Two complaints: the shaft is not as sturdy as I thought it would be; there is a little wobble and play in the main shaft that makes the unit feel a bit flimsy during use. My second complaint is that Sears does not offer or even list the part number for the replacement blades. After four or five uses, the machine appears to do a fairly good job and seems like a decent value to me. I would probably buy it again but only after verifying that I could buy the correct replacement blades at the same time.

glad I bought the extended warranty July 30, 2009

This edger is not very good. It takes several passes to give your edge a "fresh cut" look. It is also extremely difficult to handle on the curb. I've had it for a 1 1/2 years and it has started fine until now. Nothing turns now as if the pull cord is pulling freely. I'm returning it with the warranty and looking for something else.

Good for the money May 31, 2011

    Pros:
    Easy to use, light weight,Economical
    Cons:
Cutting isn't as clean,,Getting replacement blades

This edger works adequately once you learn how to use it. It doesn't cut as cleanly as more powerful models but then it is lighter, easier to handle, and less expensive. Once you learn how to use it, it does the job. It's not as versatile as a higher end model. My biggest complaint is that Sears stores do not carry the replacement blade. However, ***** does (MTD). You can order it from Sears or save money and get it at *****.

just an OK edger - same engine as Troy Bilt October 02, 2009
    By Pky6471 of Newark, DE

This Craftman 4-cycle gas edger is the same as the Troy Bilt that is being sold at ***** for $159.  100% the same engine and design but different name. I was considering the electric B&D LE750 edger which has good reviews but I was afraid that it does not have enough torque for overgrown sidewalk that I have not touched in 10 yrs. I have used it 2 times since I bought it from *****, so here is my initial report. (1) I bought it because of 4-cycle engine, no gas/oil mixing required (2) light wt and small enough to store in a tight-space garage (3) When first use ,it would take 4-5 pulls before the engine would start, this is annoying , once the engine is hot then it will start on the first pull (4) it does a sufficient job to cut thru thick grass, but you have to do it very slowly... for that reason I don't think the electric B&D LE750 would have the torque to handle the overgrown edge... Once it's trimmed nicely, then it should be no problem for the B&D LE750

***** has a policy to return it within 30 days if I don't like it, and Troy Bilt has a 2-yr warranty... So I have time to decide within 30 days

Does not cut grass February 16, 2009
    By MitchInOKC of OKC, OK

Plain and simple ... this edger does not cut grass. It pushes it out of the way. Also, does not work well on the curb by the street. Save your money and buy something better.
