McCulloch  McCulloch Gas Powered Backpack Blower

did not like this product hard to start did not blow very well. went back to a hand held blower.

I bought this backpack blower in July 2011. Was able to get it for a really good sale price. Upon first use, I was impressed with the fact that it packed a lot of punch in a small and lightweight item. However, I used it about 3-4 times and the trigger mechanism broke. It was repaired (thankfully under warranty and at no cost) and seemed to be OK. Was able to use it a few times before putting it away for the winter. Before storing it, I made sure that the tank was fully drained, cleaned the air filter, checked the spark plug and then stored it for winter. Pulled it out about a week ago, put fresh gas/oil mix in and the thing wouldn't start. After several tries, I finally got it started but then it would only run for a few seconds and stall out. I brought it back to the warranty repair facility and am awaiting word on what is happening with this. The item is only about 10 months old, has been used only a handful of times, and has broken down twice. If the warranty repair facility cannot fix it, then I will be going back to Sears since I bought the extended service plan on this item. And when I get this item replaced, it will not be the same thing. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on this item.

DO NOT BUY IT.  Save yourself a ton of frustration and do not buy it.  I bought one and it did work fine, I used it once before it was stolen.  I bought a second one and it was a nightmare, I could not get it to start right out of the box.  I pulled it up to 50 times and no luck.  I called the company, first I didn't really get the company when I called the number on the box.  I got folks that deal with parts only and told me to take it to a service center.  I went to the website for McCullough Power and did a yahoo search on the address from the bottom of the webpage.  I found a number for McCullough, the actual company, they said the same thing, take it to a service center.  I told them when I buy a product I expect it to work when it comes out of the box, I told them how it felt that the company didn't even care they didn't even think to say sorry you are having trouble with it.  I did bring it back to Sears and they gave me a refund.  My mother also bought one and had an incredibly hard time starting it also, an average of 30 pulls to get it to start.  When it did start it stalled out after 10 minutes.  She also returned it to Sears.

So save yourself a lot of frustration and DO NOT GET BUY IT....

Ordered the blower in November and did not recieve it untill the end of December. Out of the box it was hard to start and would stall out frequently. The gas cap leaked and I had to borrow one of or another handheld blower when I used it. I used the blower three times from January thru March and when I tried to start it in the beginning of April and it wouldn't start. Took it to the local Sears store and they sent it to an authorized service center. I was sent several cards saying it would be repaired in a timley fashion but it was not. The blower ended up having a burnt out piston after only 3 uses and yes I know how to mix gas and oil...my other leaf blower is over 7 years old. There were also two other minor issuse, the gas cap and the start assist was damaged locking up the chord, that they said were already fixed and they were only waiting on the piston kit. Well needless to say I got tired of waiting for over a month and a half and after numberous calls to the service call center I talked to a person that could actually help me and was able to get the store to give me a refund. The service center is still sending me notices of progress and the last one said it should be done sometime in late June. I should have done my research before buying this product, found out it is very poorly rated, but I would also expect a company as large as Sears to do theirs before carring a product.

The McCULLOCH GAS POWERED BACKPACK BLOWER is a lot better then i thought, because i had a different one before this one. I realized the McCULLOCH GAS POWERED BACKPACK is lightwieght and easy to handle and it is a lot cheaper than the previous backpack blower i had purchased. I have got some compliments on the McCULLOCH BACKPACK already and the weather have'nt broke yet. I will recommend the McCULLOCH BACKPACK to all my friend's and family.

We needed something for small jobs and occational use. This is way more than I excpected. Very powerful and light! This would be a great blower for any use. Over the years we have had several other blowers but none ever worked as great out of the box as this one.

This blower is much more powerful than the hand held ones. The gas usage is not as bad as the larger backpacks, and it stil has good power.
