I bought this set on sale, and from the other reviews, I did anticipate that putting it together wouldn't be a piece of cake.  A friend and I sat down with it and the directions, and tried to follow what the directions prescribed.  THIS WAS A MISTAKE.  The easiest way to assemble the set is as follows:

1.  Put together the chair/loveseat backs and arms first as a frame. (you slide the arms into the back, and then there are two little bolts that keep them fastened together.)

2.  THEN attach the seat, starting with a couple of bolts toward the back and then doing the bolts farthest to the front, then working your way around.

Once we moved to this method, we got the whole thing together in approx. 1 hour.  This after we had spent more than 2 hours trying to get just the love seat together according to the directions.

Aside from the stupid assembly issues, though, I couldn't be happier with this set!  it's wonderful!

Hi there.  I fell in love with this patio set from the first moment I saw it in the Sears catalog.  It arrived fairly quickly and after reading the reviews I decided to have Sears set it up for me too.  It was extremely difficult to set up.  The holes were not always in the right place and the screws were flimsy or otherwise not adequate.  Maybe if you have other screws that are more sturdy or are willing to drill new holes this might be an easier project for you.  It's easily a 4-hour job to make it all work.  In order to not strip the screws you must be patient.  But the service man did it all!  I definitely would recommend this furniture to everyone because it is so beautiful and the upholstery is thick and seems like it will hold up well. I hope you have an easier time with its set up but based on the stats it's unlikely.

We absolutely love this set!!  It is well worth the cost and the couple of hours that it takes to put together!!

After reading the other two reviews for this set, we took their advice, and my husband didn't tighten any screws until the very end. This made it very easy to put together. He started  around 11:30am, and finished putting the last piece together by 1:00pm.

Like the others, the set came in a torn box, and I was concerned that there would be missing pieces. Luckily, everything was intact, and in excellent condition. The material is just as pretty as the picture, and of excellent quality.

The set truly does look expensive, and looks fabulous on our porch. We are very pleased with the ease of putting the set together, and with its overall look. I highly recommend this set to those who are thinking about purchasing it. You won't be sorry!

The set was delivered in one big box.  The box was torn open on one side.  The instructions were no where to be found.  We tried to get them off the internet with no success.  Sears did not have them either.  The screws, etc. are packaged nicely and labeled for each piece.  We took a shot at it and were able to figure out what went where.  The only problem is the softness of the screws.  Some were very hard to turn, consequently it caused them to strip.  You need to be patient when putting it together.  Loosening some to get another to go in is pretty common.  There were no scratches because the aluminum in painted to look distressed.  The cushions are very well made and the fabric is good quality.  The set looks very expensive.  We are pleased with the end result.
