    Can't go wrong... March 12, 2008

Was on a business trip in March, and when I heard we received over 2 ft. of snow in my area I couldn't bare to shovel again.. I had enough! Well after reading some reviews and speaking to some friends I went with this machine. And so far so good! When I came home from my trip there was over 2ft of snow/ice/slush at the end of my driveway.. this is my 1st snow thrower and couldn't be happier. This machine chewed through it all. For the people that rated low.. I would suggest replacing it with another one.. chances are you just got a lemon.. it happens with products. But you can see from overall posts that you can't go wrong - best bang for the dollar.

DO NOT BUY!!! January 01, 2008

I have this snow blower for the second year now. Last year I used it about three times and always had problems with the chute. This year I went to use for the first time and the Electric starter would not work. I called Sears and they said that they were backed up with their service and it would take a couple of weeks. I set a date and missed a day from work because they said that they would be here between 8 and 5 and that the service man would call to make sure that someone was at home. Well I received the call about 4:35 and I was in the shower when the service man called. I called Sears back at 4:40 and they said that I would have to reschedule. This would mean that I would have to miss another day of work. Usually the Craftsman products are good, but trying to get service for them is the worst experience ever.

OK for first four years. December 14, 2011
By Randy8808 of Union Grove, WI

For a 9 HP machine she just didn't have a lot of power.  At the end of the fourth season she just died while using it.  Couldn't pull the rope.  I believe the piston connecting rod bolts have backed out or the connecting rod shaft broke.

Reply to Engin Stalling- "toughguy60" September 29, 2008
    By Fitpiper of Flint, MI

My 2nd winter the same thing happened to me, the engine stalled after a few minutes. I had just put in new gas and suspected water. Sure enough, I drained the gas and bought some new from a different station. A couple pulls and she started right up. I have not had any starting issues since then. My advice, switch gas and use some stabilizer, It worked for me. Sherman

Good, but issues March 10, 2008
    By Hankerkid of Kimberly, WI

I bought it online and picked it up in the store. Process was great. I got it home and put it together out of the box. If was very easy. Two days later we had 4 inches of snow. I used the blower, it through snow great, controls were good. Chute direction should go further than it does, but I will get used to that. 3/4 done with my driveway and the speed control cable, metal end bent open. By inspecting it, the metal had caps in it, I assume just a defect, because I didn't see this in any other reviews. No big deal, I called to have it replaced and was bounced around between 3 or 4 customer service places. sears and sears.com are different. Finally, got to the right place and advised of the situation, I needed to have a supervisor agree to replace the part at no cost. She advised I would have if on 3/5. Well, as of today, no part. I called, was bounced around a little bit and finally found out that it is on backorder, I am now expecting it on 3/21. Additionally, the carb leaked a little, but not a big deal. I was ready to give 5/5 even after the part because the supervisor was great for the replacement. But then she gave me a date and the item didn't show up. Needless to say, even without the cable, the machine runs, but it is always in 6th gear, so I am running as well. :)
