I purchased this machine a year ago last fall. I work overseas and when I came home for Christmas, I was greeted by 14" of snow the next day... This machine easily cleared our long drive and parking areas. The initial snowy deposit was followed by a week of 6 to 8 " daily. I was soon throwing snow into 6' drifts... This machine performed as advertised. The power steering is especially helpful in tight areas. The electric start saves your energy for the cold. I performed recommend maintenance before putting it away for the season and it fired off when I got it ready for this year. I modified the headlight to include an on and off switch something the mfg might consider. All in all I am happy that I went with this model instead of the 26"..

I purchased a new Sears 28" Snow Thrower two years ago and paid for a 5 year on site service contact.. The speed cable that controls the gear shift was fallen off twice. Each time I had to wait over three weeks for service. Sears does not stock parts. They contact the manufacturer. Then the parts are on back order. The snow thrower starts easily but is not very powerful. It only throws snow 8 to 10 feet. If you have a wide driveway you have to throw the same snow again and again. I had a 20" 4 HP Toro that threw snow much further. Get a snow thrower from a local dealer if you want service and don't buy Craftsman if you want quality.

average homeownerBought this after seeing all the glowing reviews. I am not dissapointed. We live in Flagstaff, Arizona, appx 7100 ft elevation. Used it in winter of 08/09 in light snow, bogged a little, but did the job. This year in December of 09, we received about a foot of snow and more serious cutting out and stalling. Read the manual a little closer and discovered that a different jet is required above 2500 ft.. After calling Sears parts, received and installed the new jet. Shortly after, we received 2' of snow, and this thing went thru it like butter, and just last few days we received around 4-5 feet of snow. Still worked like a charm, no stalling. I highly recommend this machine, but if you have any elevation to your location you should change that jet. Not sure why this is not brought up at time of purchase as the Sears store is same elevation as I am, probably just lack of communicationn between Briggs & Stratton and Sears. average homeownerWe love this machine. We live in the San Bernardino Mountains in California so maybe we don't get the kind of snow the folks back east get. But after 4 years of shoveling our 20' X 25' driveway, it was time to power up. What used to take 5 hours to clear now gets done in 20 minutes. I even used it to clear our road when the county plows didn't come through. It's easy to use. Starts on a dime. One tank of gas lasts the season -- again, we don't get snow like others so we may not be a good reference for the amount of gas. Last year was exceptional for us, and we used the snowblower almost daily for about a month and then off and on through the rest of snow season. We highly recommend it.
