This snow thrower starts easily and runs quietly. It is not too large to create storage and handling problems yet large enough to get the job done during the toughest storms. The exhaust duct has enough positions to adjust left, right, near and far snow placement during cleanup and then can throw it over the mounds created by the first pass. Good traction although the self-propel drive seems to slip a little, it is still much easier than pushing. Will maintain belt adjustment during break in period. Overall, worth the cost.

I purchased the snow blower from the clearance isle and I guess I should have looked it over better. When I got it home I fired it up and proceeded to go out to remove some fresh snow that had fallen that day. As I was moving along it bogged down really bad and plugged up the chute, this was fresh powder, I took it back in my garage and did the necessary adjustment to the belt and went back out. The machine worked okay but was not throwing the snow like I felt it should have.
The next morning I dove into the chute and belt area with curiosity on my mind. I found the belt was broken in several places. it looked as it was 20 years old. Cracked and brittle. The tensioner pulley had lost it's cover to hold the belt in place and part of it was around the shaft. Well we had gotten a few more inches of snow and I wanted to use my thrower so instead of waiting until Sears opened at 10a.m. i went to the local parts store and bought a new belt and adjusted everything to the correct (not manufactures) settings. It works like a charm now and will throw snow further than my old 28 inch thrower.
So after all this I would say that this machine is a good investment for the clearance price I got it at. I would not recommend paying full Sears price for this machine because I had to fix a lot of the assembly, screw ups.

This is THE MOST disappointing purchase ever from Sears. It clogs constantly, even in powdery snow. It doesn't stand a chance against wet heavy snow! Don't be fooled by a great discount, this is a bad deal at any price. I am going to try to get my money back from Sears for this truly inferior product, or I will screw them back by taking advanatge for the maintenance contract I bought on the machine to make sure they lose money on selliing this piece of crap. It's been used 3 times, the last two times I ended up shoveling to get the job done.
I bought this snow thrower before a storm. The next morning it started right up on the second pull. I cleared about 100 square feet and it cut the valve stem off the left tire. I returned it to Sears and was told it would be 2-4 weeks for repairs. I told them this was unacceptable and if they would get me a socket set I would pull a wheel off their display model and be out of here in about fifteen minutes. I had to leave for an appointment and came back about an hour later and they had exchanged the tire. I returned home and cleared about a 10 to 15 foot swath and it cut the valve stem off the new tire. I think something is wrong with the drive train or transmission. I don't know if it is this model or just the machine is just a lemon. I returned the machine to Sears and got my money back.
