Craftsman 30" 357CC Snowblower is powerful and reliable February 10, 2011

I bought the Craftsman 30" 357CC Snowblower just a few weeks ago and have already spent about 6 hours using it. It has plenty of power and can send snow across the street. The power steering and warm hand grips are awesome, and it starts easily, even in below zero temps. The only thing that I have found slightly annoying is the chute doesn't always move smoothly. The chute also can change the distance it throws snow on it's own. These are 2 minor issues and I still think it is a great Snowblower.

Not very Professional December 31, 2010

I did a lot of research when I decided I needed a big snow thrower for the Chicago snows.  This one came in with several positive comments.  Picked it up in October, set it up, and then waited to the snow to fall.  It did, and I took out the new machine.  There was a strange grinding sound when I was in gear and it would hesitate in all forward gears.  After I finished a 45 minute job, I took in into the garage to see if I could find the issue.  The manual talked about opening the bottom panel to check the drive belt for adjustment.  Took the panel off and two bolts fall on the floor and the metal shavings covered everything inside.  Needless to say, the insides are shot after the bolts tore through everything and shredded the drive wheel.  Sears is sending a techincian out to survey the damage and I am interested in seeing what they decide to do, hopefully before the next big snow.  Bottomline, for the price, this is not a very well designed snow thrower.  They used four lag bolts to join the drive wheel instead of bolting the plates together.  If you get one, I would take things apart the minute it comes out of the box and make sure that the bolts on the unit are properly torqued.  Good luck, I'll be using the ********** with a blower, never lets me down.

Great for a loooong driveway! April 12, 2012
    via sears_dot_com

My driveway is over 300 yards and every snowfall was painful before I purchased this snow thrower. This machine impressively launches the snow well away from the driveway. You can also control where the snow goes with the panel adjustable shoot. I like the steering levers and the electric start. Craftsman offers features that other snow throwers did not for similar pricing, so this is a great value. I didn't get to use this much in the winter of 2011, but it never got clogged the couple times I did use it. I cleared my driveway in record time. I don't dread the winter anymore.

    Snow King April 07, 2012

Bought this snow thrower in the beginning of the season. Only got to use it a few times with the mild winter, however did use it in the few snow storms we had. It ripped right through 8 inches of snow, a wet heavy snow and a few inches.

    Don't Do it....Poor Craftsmanship... February 23, 2012
    via sears_dot_com
    By JeremyLund of Pisek, ND
    Pros:
Easy start,Plenty of Power,Warm Grips Work,Black and Yellow Colors,Heated Handgrips,Nice tires, side snow cutters knock down banks
    Cons:
Plastic Chute,2nd Gear is too Fast,Poor Engine Control Location,Joystick control terrible,Hard to manuver,Heated handles too hot,Useless in slushy snow,Doesnt throw snow far enough,Power steering doesn't always work

the machine works good when it works.  the snow is thrown about 10-12 feet, and is not nearly far enough.  the machine also doesn't break up the snow enough, and when thrown out the machine the snow come out in clumps instead of being broken up nicely.  Not a fan, and will not suggest this machine to anyone.

This machine handles so simply for such a large machine. February 01, 2012
    via sears_dot_com
    By Gooz63 of Waukegan, IL
    Pros:
Easy start,Plenty of Power,Easy to Handle,Warm Grips Work, gets the job done, nice unit,4-way Chute Control, easy to turn,All the bells and whistles,Easy to maneuver,EZ Steer,Blows even the smallest of accumulations
    Cons:
Chute tough to manage,Joystick control terrible,Engagement levers too big .,Chute control lever in bad location.

This machine worked fantastic right out of the box.  It took very little time to understand the controls and to learn how EZ it is to handle and turn. So simple, even a child could operate it. The down side to that comment is ... the levers are so large, a child COULD NOT operate this machine. Probably a good feature really, but even my wife cannot operate these large levers effectively. Guess that just means it my toy and my toy ONLY!  John in Waukegan, Illinois
