Sears Automotive service is too expensive. I recently had some brake work completed and I am very unsatisfied to say the least. They charge too much, take too long and don't even let you know when the work has been completed. I watched the mechanic put the finishing touches on my brakes then drive my vehicle out of the work bay and park it in the customer parking lot. I waited 30 minutes for someone to come tell me my vehicle was ready. I finally had to go to the service counter and advise them I knew my vehicle was ready and I wanted to pay my bill and leave. I had an identical problem about 3 months earlier with a battery replacement.

Recently, I got sears coupon for break pad change, I went there with the coupon and they did all the rotor resurface and break pad change.
From that point onwards, I am getting the noise(squezzing and knocking) while putting the breaks at signals or any parking place. That noise is very much trouble some and I am felling some thing wrong with my car.
After that I took my car to toyota show-room and explained about the noise problem. They did some investigation and give the quote for the replacement of the break -pads because that noise was from the existing break pads which was replaced at sears. Till that time, I didn't realise that noise is from the break pads.
I hope, sears team will rectify my problem soon.
The sears auto center in elcajon ca is the best place to get your brakes done.
they had me in and out in no time 3 guys worked on my car. And i injoyed the rest of my saturday thanks...
In defense of Sears Auto Center to some of you with bad reviews; first of all sears is not a lube pros so if you want 5 min service especially with batteries or brakes take it somewhere else cause its just not gonna happen. As being a previous sears auto center employee I can honestly say people act like doing a brake job or other work other than an oil change is an in and out service and it is not. Most people do not understand that mechanics are not magicians. Things go wrong on cars and one thing i learned from the business is people are so narrow minded and impatient, when the mechanics see something wrong other than what the vehicle comes in for and does a courtesy check, alot of customers automatically think we are trying to get more money and it isnt the case at all. and when things go wrong with car and it needs more repairs its automatically the mechanics fault...well here is a news flash things get rusty, some people do not properly maintain their vehicles and some cars are poorly built or has crappy parts on it. As far as the pricing goes sears has and uses premium parts and products, it is not some run down shop so if you want cheap go to a junk yard, get the parts yourself and put them on yourself. As far as alignments go, all cars are built different, alot of older cars with rusty parts are very difficult to do so it might take longer but parts get rusty and old and need to be replaced the policy in a Sears Auto Center is an alignment cannot be performed if there are parts loose in the front end because the alignment will not be effective and will not hold. So that is why if you get a call saying you need front end work and you still want an alignment without replacing the parts have fun wasting your money cause the warranty will not be valid or the alignment cannot be done and if its a trust issue simply ask your CSA to bring you back in the shop and the mechanic can show you what parts are loose and even shake down the front end for you. I do understand there are Sears Auto Centers out there that have people that might not be honest and knowledgable but you cannot base all of the sears auto centers on 1 experience from another. and try to remember no one is perfect and crap happens, cars need updating just like houses, they fall apart and get old. So next time you go to a sears auto center dont take out your frustrations on the employees they are just trying to do their jobs..they dont control how many people are working, how long it might take to fix a car, what might go wrong with a car, if your having a crappy day and have no one else to take it out on, and they especially dont make the policies and procedures. So if you go to a Sears Auto Center that does have good customer service and auto technicians show a little repect next time you want to assume things and jump to conclusions. Not all Sears Auto Centers are the same.
I would definitely recommend getting a brake evaluation, particularly if you start to notice that your brakes feel a little different than usual. I came in because I thought I needed new brake pads (which I did), but the friendly staff at Sears also pointed out that my brake hoses needed to be replaced, too. The staff were so great, and the man working on my car even brought out one of my old brake hoses to show me the wear on it and explain how brakes work.
