    Grippy December 19, 2008
    By Soundman1402 of Seattle, WA

SUMMARY: Pros: Very grippy, particularly on compacted and loose snow Cons: Louder than the Wrangler RT/S that I'm used to (hence 4-star rating). DETAILS: I've owned my Dodge Dakota for 163k miles, and have previously rolled only on the stock Goodyear Wrangler RT/S (three sets). They were smooth, quiet, and comfortable; why mess with a good thing? Now they are no longer made, and so I had to choose something else. These Bridgestones were on sale, so I picked them. They ride about the same as the RT/S. I don't notice any more or less rough of a ride than my old tires. However, at about 30 MPH, they howl like my rear pinion bearing has gone bad again. They're noisy up to about 60 MPH, whereupon they are about as loud/quiet as my old RT/S. Mind you, this isn't a loud howl; but after rolling on the same, quiet tire for close to 10 years, it is definitely noticeable. Others have told me that if I hadn't pointed it out, they wouldn't have noticed. In Seattle, as of this review, we just got a big dump of snow. The road surfaces around town are compacted snow, and so I decided to take the truck out and see how the tires do in this kind of weather. The answer is: Huge improvement in traction over the RT/S. They are very grippy on compact snow. I had to hit the brakes pretty hard to make them break traction. About the same on ice as the RT/S, maybe a little better. I had no slippage starting out (4wd helps), nor stopping (I stop long in the snow). I blasted through 12"-deep snowbanks with ease, and the truck never veered from my intended track. I have a lot more confidence driving in the snow with these tires than with the old Wrangler RT/S. This tire has been discontinued and replaced by the Dueler APT IV; but if you can get these on sale, and need the traction, go for it.

Best truck tire going May 28, 2008
    By GreggC of USA

When I bought my truck (Silverado 2500) It had a set of these on it. The previous owner said the original tires only lasted him 40K miles. I replaced them with 100K on the truck. This set has lasted me until 175K, and I am going to buy another set today. I am a contractor that travels all over the country, and the truck is used haul equipment as well as a travel trailer. They have performed in the most adverse weather conditions and have never let me down. I can't say enough about them.
