Steamers From Sears Keep the Wrinkles Out

Most people own a clothes iron, but did you know that one of the most effective ways to get wrinkles out of your clothes is to steam them? Traditional irons do have steaming capabilities, and while some of them are quite good at shooting explosive bursts of steam, the best way to get your clothes wrinkle-free in a flash is with a steamer. While small, handheld models are more prevalent, there are also tabletop steamers and upright steamers.

Handheld steamers are the easiest to find in stores. They are simple to use and can be purchased for a reasonable price. The main benefit to handheld models is that they're small, lightweight and make excellent travel companions. Instead of relying on your hotel room to have a decent iron, instead pack your own garment care system so you will always look your best. Handheld garment steamers are a great place to start if you are unsure how much you will actually use such a product. In the end, you'll probably be impressed with its usefulness; try it out on drapes and upholstery and revel in the results.

Upright steamers are considered an upgrade when compared to the handheld models. Although they perform the same basic tasks, they have more powerful steam capabilities and therefore may perform better on some fabrics. This is especially true for upholstery fabrics, since they hold on to wrinkles more stubbornly than cotton or lightweight fabrics. Although they are well suited for heavy fabrics, upright steamers also do a fabulous job on clothing, and they do so in record time. The only possible downside is that you can't travel with upright models, so if you're on the road a lot, you might want to consider buying a handheld steamer as a supplement. There are models that come bundled with both an upright and a handheld steamer; if you need both, this may be a good option for you. While there are many upright steamers available, one of the most popular is Jiffy Steamers.

Tabletop steamers, although the least prevalent and most expensive, are worth a mention. These models are less versatile than the options above, but they make quick work of big projects. Seamstresses often use SteamFast presses because they are a fast and effective way to prepare long lengths of fabric for sewing and quilting. They are also great for home use if you like to press your sheets or often launder and iron your drapes and curtains.
