Robotic Vacuums Bring Technology To Housecleaning

While housecleaning has always been an unpleasant part of living, modern technology has taken mundane tasks and made them almost automatic. When it comes to carpets and flooring, robotic vacuums are one of the newest inventions to enter the market. While vacuuming used to be hands-on task, robotic vacuums make basic cleaning almost an after-thought on your list of cleaning tasks. They come in all shapes and sizes, but all are designed to pick up household dirt in your home.

When robotic vacuums first entered the market, there were few choices; today, several brands provide convenient cleaning power. The Roomba robotic vacuum, first sold in 2002, has almost a decade of customer satisfaction backing up the brand. Sears offers a full line of Roomba vacuums, as they are still considered to be one of the best brands available. The Roomba vacuum still features the same basic design as when it was first introduced. The disc-shaped vacuum has a small dirt reservoir and sensors that electronically communicate to the computer-controlled unit where the perimeter of any room is. The longer the vacuum is in use, the better the computer system "remembers" the pattern of each room, providing quicker and better cleaning power. The Roomba became the benchmark that all robotic vacuums have built on.

Of course, all technology evolves and the robotic vacuum is no different. There are many more options for floor cleaning besides the Roomba. While cleaning power is very important in a robotic vacuum, it is also fun to add a bit of personality to your home when selecting a vacuum model. For example, for the serious fan, there are Nascar robotic vacuums that can honor your favorite driver while getting your floors clean and fresh. Despite the more interesting look of these specialty models of robotic vacuums, these models are actually comparable or less expensive than plain robotic vacuum cleaners. To add to the interest, many styles also feature race car sounds, such as engine revving, making cleaning fun.

Once your floors are properly vacuumed, there are other cleaning tasks that need attention. Because of this, robotic cleaning technology has continued to move forward. Today, there are options that range from robotic mops to robotic pool cleaners. Like the robotic vacuum cleaner, these tools have revolutionized the way that modern families clean. Instead of making maintenance a daily part of housekeeping, the robot learns the space using a sensor system and then keeps up with the mess as it happens. The machine does need to have parts changed, cleaning solution checked and the reservoir emptied; however, these tasks take a small amount of time compared to daily cleaning and can be completed at your convenience. Robotic cleaning is truly the wave of the future and, like most technology, the cost is likely to continue to come down, making these affordable options for busy families.
