Why do I have to do this?
Some manufacturers impose minimum advertised price restrictions. That means if we lower the price of an item to a certain level, we can show you that sale price only in the Cart, Checkout, or a separate window. It's a few extra clicks, but we think you'll find it's worth it when you see the great sale price. Thanks for your patience. And remember that if you change your mind about an item, you can just remove it from your Cart.

Sears sockets and socket wrenches are sold separately or in sets. Choosing which socket or socket set to buy is a matter of preference and need. Most importantly, the socket must fit both the socket wrench and the nuts and bolts snugly. Wrenches typically come in ratchet styles and screwdriver handle models. Sears has Armstrong, KD Tools and Craftsman sockets with quarter-inch or half-inch wrench mounts on one end and metric or standard fraction sizes on the other. Finding the right fit over nuts and bolts is critical to do the job without stripping the parts or the tools. Determine whether the bolt or nut is on the metric system or standard inch system when looking for the correct size socket. Metric and standard sockets are not interchangeable. Use a ruler to measure or simply try to slide different sockets over the nut or bolt to find the right fit.
It is often easier and more economical to buy a socket set with multiple sizes for versatility than to buy a single socket. When assembling furniture or replacing car parts, for example, nuts and bolts come in different diameters and require a different socket for each task. The manufacturer's assembly instructions will usually list what size nuts and bolts are used for the project. Use Armstrong, KD Tools or Craftsman sockets to get the job done.
The socket size is typically labeled on the side of the tool. This can be hard for tired eyes to see. Sears easy-to-read sockets have large type and dark labeling to make it more visible. Easy-to-read sockets are also available in singles or sets in metric and standard with various sizes.
Sockets and socket wrenches are used for any number of projects, including home improvement, automotive repair or fabrication. Automotive parts often use the metric system. The do-it-yourselfer can use Sears metric sockets to remove and replace auto parts. Sears metric sockets come in increments of centimeters and millimeters. On occasion, the same piece of equipment will use both metric and standard nuts and bolts throughout its construction. This is when having multiple socket sets comes in handy.
Keep Sears socket tools organized around the workbench with carrying cases or snap-on rails. Arrange socket sizes in order from smallest to largest and separate metric from standard. When there are different sizes of wrench attachments available around the workbench, organize the sockets and socket wrenches by mount size as well. When working with stubborn bolts, heavy materials or hard-to-reach areas, use Sears socket tools and accessories to make the job easier.
