Inviting small pet cages make the perfect home for your little friends
Whether you have a hamster or a frog, the right small pet cage can make all the difference when it comes to keeping your little new friend happy and healthy all day long. A good pet cage will keep your animal contained and give him plenty of room to be active and do the kind of things that your little animal might naturally do in the wild. Whether you need a sturdy aquarium for your lizard or a multi-level playhouse for your super active hamster, the right small pet cages can make all the difference.
Choose from single level or multi-level homes for your tiny pet. If you just have a snake that likes to slither around, then a single level cage will probably be plenty. However, if you have a few active mice, then a multi-level cage will give your animals plenty of room to run around and plenty of tiny nooks and crannies that give them a comfortable amount of space from each other when they want alone time. In addition, if you have a lot of pet cage accessories, then you may enjoy having the extra space and multiple levels to spread out all the toys and exercise equipment.
As you select your cages, don't forget to keep small pet hygiene in mind. You will have to tidy up the cage somehow, and cages with pull-out bottoms can make cleaning a breeze. Of course, some pets are smart enough to know how to escape through these mechanisms, so you may want to consider a pet cage with a lockable removable tray or other method for cleaning out pet waste and bedding. In addition, you will also want to consider the number of access points to the inside of the cage, in case you want to remove your pet or get into all the little nooks and crannies for cleaning. Top doors and a couple of side doors are great for rodent cages, while you may only want to have a single topper for a reptile habitat.
Finally, as you choose your cage, make sure there is plenty of room in the cage for small pet toys, and plenty of available space to hang any mountable toys. Your cage can be metal or plastic, or a combination of the two, as long as you have plenty of space and plenty of options for mounting entertaining gadgets and toys. While reptiles may not need toys specifically, you can challenge them by giving them puzzle feeders and plenty of environmental options for squiggling and slithering.
