Used the new snowthrower this weekend. It handled 8" of wet, heavy snow very well even after the city plow came by and pushed the wet snow up at the end of the drive. The power assists for rotation and height of the blower tube works well. Plenty of traction with the large, tractor type tires. The Briggs 250cc engine performed well also. This seems to be a very good snowthrower.
I have an older thrower (14 years old) made by Snapper - 7HP and it still works very well too. I highly recommend this machine. It was fun working on our three garage wide driveway!
Picked this unit up Friday after work. I assembled it on Saturday. Attempted to start it on Sunday but it failed to start. As I checked it to figure out what the problem was I noticed gas leaking out from under the choke cover. It was leaking at a good clip and down my driveway. What a mess. I removed the cover assuming it was a loose or disconnected line. It wasn't , that would be too easy. It looks like a defective part of some kind. Keep in mind that this brand new $1000.00 snow blower cannot be returned to Sears it has to be taken to a Briggs and Stratton authorized dealer because it isn't a Sears model. Obviously Sears doesn't stand behind the products they sell enough to repair them. If I purchased an extended warranty through Sears they would have taken care of it. I always had faith in Snapper products but now both Snapper and Sears as well as Briggs & Stratton are out in my book. Anyone thinking of buying at Sears keep in mind that they will not stand behind the item if it doesn have the Sears or Craftsman name on it.

Best snowthrower ever! I don't have to turn any knobs or cranks to adjust the direction my snowthrower blows....I just push the button and the electric motor turns the chute. Plenty of power to get the job done. Excellent product by Snapper, strongly recommend for people with large driveways like myself. I had the Sears store assemble this unit for me, they loaded it into my truck and when I got home it started first pull, I don't even use the electric start since it starts so easy. Very pleased with the Briggs engine. Thanks Sears and Snapper!

Purchased this last year @ Sears. Although when you pick it up it is 99% assembled, the knuckle head who put it together isn't a mechanic so spend twenty minutes going over the machine & tighten everything. Take the small piece covering the chute mechanism off to tighten those screws or they will vibrate loose & your chute will move away from the gear making the control not work. The unit works very well, I was very happy with the engine starting. My only issue is with the hand warmers, I don't have any experience with others but mine don't seem to work at all. I think for the price, although not "cheap" it was a good deal. Seems well built, I think even the auger is powder coated. Used this all last year and haven't had issues except for those listed. You won't be disappointed.

I really like this Snapper snow blower! It has plenty of power and is easy to start. It will throw 8" of heavy snow very easily. The electric start feature is nice but I haven't needed to use it. It also comes with the power cord for it, unlike some other brands. The big 16" tires are real diggers and I don't think I will need to put chains on them. I really like the heated hand grips too. The power chute controls are a nice feature and they are fast. There are a couple of minor things that I would have liked to have seen on this model. One is that there isn't a switch to turn off the lights. They are needlessly on all the time. Another thing that surprised me is that there is no throttle control. Maybe these Briggs and Stratton 249cc 1150 motors are designed to run wide open from a cold start, but I always liked to run my other snow blower at low rpm until it warms up. All in all, this seems to be a well built snow thrower and I would recommend it.
