Bold Trend to Try: The Pixie Cut

You can thank Beyoncé. And Jennifer Lawrence. And Miley Cyrus, Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson, Halle Berry, Pamela Anderson and Charlize Theron. The pixie cut is a major trend—which has many considering a drastic change. Among those thinking of going short? Make sure you’re ready. We’ve got your guide.

1. Pick your perfect cut. Not all pixies were created equal. You’ll want to pick the style best suited to your face: Is it heart-shaped? Any cut will work. Have a large forehead or a longer face? Pick a style with side-swept bangs. Finally, if your face is round, you’ll want a cut with some height.  (Halle Berry’s pixie would be perfect!)

2. Think it over. Do what you need to do to be confident in your decision: Pluck pictures from magazines, sit through a consultation with your stylist, try on a wig with the same shape, you name it. We’d also recommend looking at your emotional state: Just break up with your boyfriend? Now’s not the time.
