Fringe Fest: Spring’s Chicest Detail

Yes, fringe was popular last spring—thanks, in large part, to the inspiring costuming in the season’s big blockbuster, “The Great Gatsby.”  But, this year, the trend strays far from the 1920s and into an era known for hippies versus flappers: the 1960s. Rather than light-as-air strings on drop-waist dresses, we’re seeing thick leather strips on bags, vests and jackets. There are also tattered-hem tees, shimmy-ready necklaces and moccasin-esque boots that look made for a music fest. The resounding message? Think “Woodstock,” and you’ll be set—even if your plans include a movie versus a band.
