This is the 2nd Suncast shed I've bought. I have a model that must be discontinued. I bought this one based on ease and duribility of the previous one I bought. But I am very disappointed with this shed. Your initial cost must include approx. $75.00 for a base. Mine was made out of 2x4's and 3/4" thk. plywood. You need to secure the floor to the base, so concrete will require hilti bolts. It took 4 people to build it - 3 to handle assembly and one to figure out the instructions. After all was said and done and all sides and floor was tied together, it appeared stronger than expected. I tried to return it, but Sears said I would have to repackage it in it's original box. you know how that goes.

OK, but not as good as expected October 26, 2008

The shed seemed like a good idea in the ad, and Sears had a very good price. I like the size and the shed fits where I wanted it. The materials were somwhat flimsy and less substantial than I expected for the price. Assembly was rather tedious and took three people several hours to complete. The floor was so flimsy as to be almost silly. We constructed a wood platform as they recommend which worked well. I don't regret buying it, but I am not sure I would buy it again. For short term storage, such as BBQ equipment in the summer and bicycles, it works well if you have limited space for a shed. For serious storage, a wooden shed would be much better and probably worth the extra cost. If you need storage but have limited space, go ahead and buy it. If you have room for a real shed, buy the real shed.

Low Profile Shed October 13, 2008
    via Sears.com

I like the low profile design. That and the low maintenance od plastice were the major attractions for me. However, if I had seen the shed I would not have bought it. The first shortcoming is the depth dimention. The specified depth is 85 inches. That is indeed the dimention of the floor but the front and back walls are set inside the floor edge so that the depth of the wall is only 79 inches. This dimension was about 2 inches less that of the log splitter that I intended to store. The assembly requires 2 people and was fairly easy with one exception. The roof consistes of 4 sections The 2 front sections were difficult to mate and required a piece of thin aluminum angle to shoehorn the pieces together. There is one major design flaw which became apparent after the 1st heavy rain - the roof leaks. I had a wheelbarrow in the center of the shed that contained several gallons of water. The roof sagged to the center along the ridge which was the source of the major leak. There is a steel ridge beam that is mounted in notches in the wall, but it dosen't support the ridge at all. A small 3/4 inch thick block of wood placed on top of the steel beam in the center was sufficeint to remove the dip and fixed the major leak. There was still some leakage along the seams joining the roof sections. These seams were sealed with a bit of silicone calking. A couple of other flaws. One of the steel U channels tha hold the side pieces togeather kept falling off. Another is the door latch was not positiond properly so that the doors did not close compleatly. These problems were fixed with a drill and some screws. Finally the structure is not as sturdy and rigid as I would like The bottom line is that with considerable effort It is working out OK and I like the style.

Low Profile Shed September 22, 2008

By Mel0419 of New York. NY

The material is thin and not as sturdy as I expected. Even though it came with a floor it suggested I build on an either a cement slab or a wood frame slab. I bought per exact measurements the material for the wood platform to hopefully give more weight and stability but, the walls and rooftop still seem shaky. Additionally I did not expect for rain to get into the shed and it does so, I am skeptical about storing anything now that I do not want getting wet. Overall I am very dissappointed. The shed I preferred was the 51/2 by 51/2 ft for 399.00 but, at the time it was not available. I am now very sad.
