Suncast  Nocrank Enclosed Hose Reel

This item really works well. It is easy to use and the auto rewind in very comfortable. I used to own one that I had to rewind on my own and it got to the point that I was not even intrested or even looking forward to doing my yard. but now I have this one and I love it! I dont have to worry for the extra hard work in putting it away, straight and simple!

This hose reel is kinda cool, but does have a few quirks. I first recommend their discharge hose be differeny, as it is a rigid plastic which makes draining the water from it to operate a bit difficult. Another thing, to reel in a 100ft hose discharges about 13 gallons of water, so try and have it discharge in a spot you want to water. It does work overall, just find if you have a yard with any obstacles, trees, rocks, etc you are constantly "minding" the hose to keep it from getting stuck.

I purchased this unit for both myself and a friend and we both are very pleased with the product. Living in AZ requires frequent watering and this has made clean up a whole lot easier.

I have a very deep back yard and to reel in all that hose was beginning to be a major back, arm, shoulder - you name it - ache. When I saw this product two summers ago I immediately purchased it. It still works but not as smoothly as it did when new. The lever to change directions of the hose in and out squeaks a lot and does not move easily. When I emailed the company with a question of what I could do about this, I received no reply. I think I have been luckier than some other reviewers (on Amazon) who have had theirs just stop working. It is a great invention but should have been better engineered. I would still recommend it for it's ease of use. And no batteries!

I only buy Craftsmen Rubber Hoses as they are the best out there and this device cannot handle them. It is too small and too weak. Maybe a 75' one would work but not the 100' that I use. It jams when the hose is being pulled out and needs assistance to reel it back in but it all doesn't fit. Too bad, it is such a great idea.

This product had the potiential to work great, but the inventor simple did not make it large enough. I tried two 5/8 as called for by "NO CRANK" rubber and vinyl hoses. Neither would completely roll up in to the casing. I even took off the the rubber non-crip piece at the end of each hose so it would roll up tight. Didn't work. I operated it very slowly to see if this was the problem. Didn't work. The problem is it too small from the height and the width and it gets stuck. It came up short by about 10 feet each try. Nice idea, but designed improperly.

The water retraction is the only way to go. It does need to be held down by hand or fixed to the ground so it does not move when rewinding. I just put my hand on it to hold it in place you need to be there to turn off the rewind and water anyway. I have MS and don't have the strength or energy to use a hand crank and after using the water retraction I don't thank anyone would use a hand crank again!
