Ulti-MATE Garage  3-Drawer Base Cabinet

I purchased the standard cabinets, wall cabinets, and 3 drawer base cabinets. The standard base and wall units are fine, but the 3 drawer cabinets were bad. On one I had the same problem with the drawer slides, they broke, I assumed it was my fault and purchased replacements locally. They broke too. All I can assume is the sides warped or the horizontal pieces were cut too short. The one 3 drawer unit that didn't fall apart can't hold more than a pound or two because the drawer bottoms are so flimsy. Buy Craftsman, pay a bit more, it's worth it.

Beware negative ratings from purchasers who don't follow directions or assemble carefully and blame failings on the product, itself!

After extensive comparison shopping and viewing a number of model lines in local stores and neighbors' garages, I settled on the UlitMATE line.  I have built and installed 11 of their cabinets, ranging from the largest two-door storage units down to the small hanging cabinets.

I suspect that a lot of the problems reported by others are a result of not being careful in the assembly of their units.  For example, breaking off legs could be directly attributable to the way they fasten to the underside of the cabinets.  There is a threaded stud that screws into the cabinet bracket, then the leg screws onto it.  If you put all the threads into one or the other, it is weak and likely to snap under the weight of the cabinet when the cabinet is moved.  As for the drawer slides, one must line up the drawer precisely when first inserting it, or the ball bearing races don't catch properly in the tracks and get misaligned.  If they are then man-handled to force a fit, they fall apart, as one would expect.  It's all in the care and patience of the assembler!

These are well-designed, are made of quality materials and hardware, and are quite solid when properly built.  My garage now ROCKS!

Nice useful drawer base cabinets with good looks.

I purchased four of these 3 drawer units and eight of the 2 door hanging wall cabinets and I think they exceptionally nice for the price. My garage looks professional and the neighbors are looking into buying the same pieces. I think the people that broke the legs maybe were not careful while moving them. They are heavy and should probably be picked up and not slid while moving. No problems with drawers on my units. Love them. Did take several weeks to get items.

I bought this piece, along with many others from Ultimate Garage. It took months to get everything I ordered through Sears. This cabinet has very poorly designed drawer sliders. I broke 2 of them immediately, and the ball bearings fell out. I had to order replacement parts from the manufacturer, and it took about 4 weeks to get the parts. Very poor service, and the design is not good. Also, the lower drawer has a wheel under it because the sliders can't handle the weight. Furthermore, the 4 legs are not attached well, and it is surprisingly easy to break off a leg when you try to move the cabinet into place. Do not buy this brand. I have had problems with the other cabinets in the Ultimate Garage system also.

I have built and installed quite a few of the Ultimate cabinets that have doors. The drawer slides are so poor that when I went to put the assembled drawers in the glides, they broke and I had ball bearings all over the place. If it has a door, it is great. Don't buy their cabinets with drawers unless you want to get into the business of finish cabinetry to repair them.

I bought this as a christmas presant. The screws stripped out very easy,the wood cracked when you put the screws in,the drawers were very hard to open and when we did get them open the bearings feel out and the drawer broke.After it was put together, it was not even. There were gaps everywhere.Next time i'll by Craftsman.

I was disappointed in the quality of this and some other cabinets we purchased. The legs are a brittle plastic and break easy. The one drawer slider on the 3 drawer cabinet fell apart before I could even use it. I was testing it after assembly and all the ball bearings fell out of one slider.

Purchased 2 of these, 2 of the 36" tall units, 2 wall units, plus two other floor units. As stated, easy to assemble, you definitely need another person for this cabinet, good construction and great looking. Sears has the best price on the Web. Some reviewers are unhappy with the assembly of the drawers, before assembly learn how the drawers are connected and it makes assembly easier.

I purchased this cabinet, along with several coordinating pieces, and was soooo disappointed when we put everything together. The directions were very clear and it was relatively easy to assemble. My husband and I put it together in less than an hour and I could have done it alone without issue. However, after all was assembled and we tested the drawers, they fell out of their tracks and wouldn't realign correctly even after repeated attempts to realign. We checked our work and made sure corners were tight and realized that it was the tracks themselves (which come preattached to the panels) that were the problem. Additionally, the wood began to split in some areas after fastening. All six pieces that we purchased are headed back to the store. Looks nice online, and feels really sturdy, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone, despite the good price.
