Headlights 101: What are Halogen Headlights?

Halogen headlights are filled with halogen gas that increases the life of their filament. Halogen bulbs use a thin tungsten filament that burns brighter than standard incandescent headlights, which are being phased out of production. They are commonly used as factory installed headlights on most vehicles since they last 450 to 1,000 hours. There are various kinds of halogen headlights, including bright, energy efficient and blue bulbs. Blue halogen headlights emit a bluish color similar to xenon headlights and can add a touch of style to any car.

Benefits of Halogen Headlights

  • These models cost less than LED and xenon headlights.
  • Halogens create a brighter white light than traditional incandescent headlights.
  • They're commonly used as the standard headlights from the factory, making them more readily available at automotive retail stores than high-end counterparts.
