Gifting Ideas for Holiday

Christmas giftsby Barb Hopkins

Christmas gift ideas for every age and gender can be found at Sears.com. When jotting down ideas for gift-giving lists, consider creating categories such as gifts for kids, gifts for teens, gifts for men and for women. Include columns for gifts by age, item ideas and budget.

Gift ideas for boys ages 5-12

Consider gifts for boys that engage the imagination and offer the opportunity to get moving. Younger boys may enjoy digging in the dirt or sand with a Kettler CAT digger truck, while older school-age boys may prefer the thrill of riding a new skateboard. A new two-wheel bicycle is a great traditional gift idea as well. Don’t forget the safety gear for skateboard and bike riders—helmet plus elbow and knee pads are essential. Other popular toys include Legos, Nerf and the classic game Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.

Gift ideas for girls ages 5-12

Some little girls may adore a new doll, while others may want to hop aboard a neon pink kick scooter. Gifts for girls include ride-on toys and kick scooters for younger girls, as well as the Maxi from Kickboard USA for tweens. Toys that allow for pretend play are great choices and include dollhouses, kitchen sets and backyard playhouses. The Theo Klein cash register makes a great gift for girls (and boys), encouraging math skills as well as imaginative play. Don’t forget fun character watches as a “grown-up” gift for that special little girl.

Gift ideas for teens: boys and girls 13-18

You don’t have to resort to cash or the basic gift card for the teenager. Consider the teen’s interests and use that as your base for gift ideas. Boys who enjoy video games may love a new LED or flat-panel television as well as the book “1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die.” Surprise the teen girl on your list with a digital picture frame that holds multiple photos or a piece of fashion jewelry from the Kardashian Kollection. Magazine subscriptions for teenagers encourage reading—simply choose a topic your teen loves and it’s sure to be a page-turner.

Gifts for men

Gifts for men range from traditional tools such as cordless drills, Craftsman screwdriver sets and sturdy tool chests to luxurious neck massagers from HoMedics. If he’s a sports fan, consider a fun NFL watch from Gametime that’s preprogrammed with his favorite team’s game schedule. Don’t forget, he may be dying to receive that new 60-inch LED television.

Gifts for women

Teen girls aren’t the only ones who enjoy digital photo frames. Buy two and give the second to a special woman. Pamper her with a sensuous foot bath or a pair of foot massaging slippers. Wow her with colorful gemstone jewelry or a set of sparkling diamond earrings. Sears offers a huge fine jewelry section to fit all styles and budgets.

Craftsman stainless-steel travel mugs are great gifts. Adults can enjoy piping hot coffee coming out of the large mugs and the young'ns can have hot chocolate in their mugs.

Although they are Craftsman branded, you're going to have to "hunt" for this mugs.

The closest store to me had them down in Housewares, with the other mugs.

Then they got moved to Mens, with some soft tool bags.

I'm not sure if they're going to make the rounds full-circle back to the Tool Department.

But, these mugs make excellent stocking stuffers.

Maybe combined with a Kenmore 12-cup red coffee maker?

Now, WHERE did I put that CRAFTSMAN plastic logo...

It will fit right "over" the Kenmore name.

There are still Craftsman miniature tool ornaments for sale in the store's Winter Wonderland just waiting for a spot on the tree and maybe to be turned into a pendant or bolo centerpiece.

The metal ornaments are the best of the two kinds of ornaments to stand up to the additional rigors of being worn as forms of a personal value statement, and they are the ones made in the US.

The resin ornaments are more colorful than the metal ornaments, but, not able to stand being used for being worn.

These are unique forms of tool presents, that are only seasonally sold, at one time during each year.

Mine go back to the 1990's.
