  1. Hello inquisitor. Some models of dishwashers will pause during the cycle to heat the water. That may be what you are describing. If it stops and starts randomly throughout the cycle, then you could have a loose wiring connection or a problem with the door switch. Open the dishwasher door and you may see a door strike at the top of the opening to the dishwasher door. You may be able to bend that part down slightly so that the door will stay shut properly during the cycle. If that does not help, then you may need to have a service technician examine and repair the dishwasher. You can call Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) to schedule service. If you need more help, post additional details and the model number of your dishwasher.

  2. Hi inquisitor,

Thank you for posting in the MySears Community.

Do you by any chance know the model number of your dishwasher? If it is a built in/or portable you can find the number on the inside of the door or on the edge of the door itself.

This model number will help our Sears Appliance Experts pinpoint the right appliance as well as providing troubleshooting tips on why your machine is starting and stopping.

Please check back for a reply back.

    Thank you! ;)
