  1. Thanks for the details and model number. From the description you give I suspect there is an internal problem that is beyond adjustment. I sugget you call 1-888-866-6317 to schedule a service call to resolve this problem.

  2. First thing to do is release the trolley from the door. With the trolley disconnected you can try to operate the opener and see if the trolley travels up and down all the way. With the trolley released you can also try to manually open and shut the door to see if it hangs up or opens smoothly. If the door and trolley seem to work okay separately then consult your manual about them limit and force settings. Good luck. Let us know how things work out.

If your door has photocells or little camera looking devices mounted to within the last 4-6" of the door, then try to clean away any cob webs first and foremost. Then check and make sure they are not bent or crooked. Of you see the light on either or on both blinking when nothing is obstructing its otherwise clear path..... then they are not aligned.
Adjust each side a little bit at a time until the lights do not blink steadily.... Some are different than others, depends on which brand and model , not all have these safety cells.

PLEASE NEVER JUST DISCONNECT THE DOOR FROM THE TROLLEY WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING THAT IF YOU HAVE A BROKEN TORSION OR EXTENSION SPRING THAN THE DOOR IT GOING TO COME SLAMMING DOWN TOWARD THE GROUND AND WILL BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. (FRED SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU TO NEVER RELEASE THE DOOR FROM TROLLEY UNLESS THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT AND NO ONE IS IN THE OPENING, OR SERIOUS INJURY IS POSSIBLE FROM A RUNAWAY DOOR THAT IS DISCONNECTED PER NEGLIGENT AND INCOMPLETE ADVICE).

ALSO,THE DOOR OPENER WILL NOT HAVE THE POWER TO LIFT A DOOR THAT HAS ONE OR TWO BROKEN EXTENSION SPRINCS AND THE SAME IS TRUE FOR TORSION SPRINGS.
UO NORTH MOST DOORS SEEM TO BE THE TORSION SPRING ASSISTED LIFT STYLE SYSTEMS. THIS MEANS DURING EXTREME COD SNAPS AND TEMPS BELOW 15 DEG F, HUNDREDS OF TORSION SPRINGS WILL BREAK EVERY DAY PER AREA WITH 100,000 PEOPLE.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOU HAVE TORSION OR EXTENSION SPRINGS?

TORSION SPRINGS ARE MOUNTED ON A LONG SHAFT OR PIPE THAT RUNS THE WIDTH OF THE DOOR AND IS SECURED TO THE INSIDE WALL OF GARAGE JUST ABOVE THE TOP OF THE TOP SECTION.....

EXTENSION SPRINGS ARE STRUNG ALONG EACH SIDE OF A DOOR AND EXPAND WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT AND CONTRACT WHEN OPEN. THESE ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN SEVER FINGERS AND HANDS FROM THE HUMAN BODY IN SECONDS. IF YOU FEEL COMPELLED TO MESS WITH A GARAGE DOOR ALWAYS FULLY OPEN THE DOOR (WITH HELP FROM A FRIEND IF NEEDED) AND FIRMLY SECURE A PAIR OF VICEGRIPS JUST ABOUT EVEN WITH THE HEADER OF THE DOORS OPENING. THIS PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM FALLING ON SOMEONE OR CLOSING WHILE YOU ARE MAKING A REPAIR.

YOU MAY ALSO NEED TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL COME OUT TO ADJUST THE EXTENSION SPRINGS TO HELP LIFT THE DOOR A ;LITTLE MORE AND ON A TORSION SPRING DOOR YOU MAY HAVE TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL ADJUST THE TENSION ON YOUR SPRING('S) BY ADDING A FEW WINDS TO IT. THIS INCREASES LIFTING POWER WHICH WILL CAUSE A DOOR TO BE SLIGHTLY TOO HEAVE FOR AN ELECTRIC OPERATOR TO LIFT ALL THE WAY, BUT IT WIL USUALLY OPERATE THE DOOR 3/4 OF THE WAY OPEN AND CLOSE, JUST TOO HEAVY IN THE HEADER TO MAKE IT THE LAST FOOT OR SO.

Hi Fred ty for the advice the door opens and closes smoothly when I do it manually but the trolley won't go all the way to trolley stop bolt when it closes and it won't stop when it opens to the point that it bends the rail before its stops
